Hello,
In your opinion what is the best virus Remover/Protector. I have been told that is why my computer is going so slow. I have defragged, got rid of all not needed files and done cleanups. Still slow.
Thank You:confused:

It's possibly a hardware issue if there's overheating occurring. A great free program which I use when I need to is SUPERantispyware.

    Good luck.

You should use Advance System Care in your computer. Install the free version of ASC and perform a scan. Hopefully it will help you. If the problem continues, reinstall the windows of your computer.

If any of those does not help you, you need to take your PC to a doctor .

I am using Advance SystemCare by Iobit. When my pc is running slow I just scan it with this software and it goes smooth again.

I use Advanced System Care by Iobit. Malware Bytes, JetClean from Blue Sprig and CCleaner from Piriform.

That combination has worked pretty well for me and it is what I install on my clients' computers.

I use Avira, Superantispyware, Malwarebytes and Ccleaner.
I usually find that they fix any problems, including speed.
If you still have a problem, you may need more ram.

Uninstall all your antivirus tools, they aren't helping you. Run your web browsing and downloads in a virtual machine.

Download the free vmware player, and run a minimalist linux with wine.

There could be many reasons for your computer to run slowly, and without knowing a little more about it (how old, how much memory it has, what version of Windows and other information) it's hard to make any definitive suggestions.

As others have suggested, it's always worth running a scan with the free versions of Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, and possibly Spybot Search and Destroy, too.

If they don't help, then the machine could be slow because it doesn't have enough RAM for whatever you're asking it to do. It could also be that the hard drive is either failing or critically short of free space - both can cause the machine to run very slowly.

The first place to start is with those scans, though - see what they find, and clean up any malware / spyware / unwanted programs, then go on from there.

I only use Avira as my anti-virus for my computer and erase some files like softwares that I didn't use, movies, videos and pictures.

Best AV I've used that is free is Avast. I have it on my Windows computer.

Best thing to do is backup your files. Format the hard drive. Reinstall Windows, and the software you use. Install the anti virus. Then put your backed up files back and scan with with an Avast to ensure any virus isn't attached to the files.

It'll work like a dream. You could also try installing more RAM, and a cheap SSD. You can get 100GB SSD for £50 in the UK. That'll increase performance a lot.

See how that works. If you still have issues you need a new computer.

Harry, I'm sure Jim has handled his computer problem from November 2013 by now. Even if he hasn't, he's not going to see your post considering he hasn't logged in since December 2013.

At no time has anyone asked: How old is your computer. Are you trying to run the latest software on a 2002 XP machine?

      Insufficent data.

If Jim is anything like me, he probably doesn't even have the computer anymore, considering he asked the question roughly 18 months ago and hasn't been active roughly as long.
