Has anyone else noticed YA is dead these days?

I'm not talking from a marketing point of view. I've asked genuine questions about my cats health, about my health, about other things that usually get a good response from people. But I am not getting 0 replies on anything.

It used to be really good.

I don't really use Yahoo Answers but I just checked and there were well over 100 questions asked in under 15 minutes, not really dead.

You can chuck this thread over here with the rest of the dead threads.

Have you looked at the number of answers, and the quality of them? Most questions that get answered are from marketers/spammers or people looking to build their accounts to Level 2,3,4 etc.

The community aspect of YA looks dead to me compared to what it was.

Actually in 15 minutes, none were answered, but in order for it to be dead there has to be no questions either.

It may be futile from from a marketing perspective.

Yeah, I've noticed whenever I click on a Yahoo Answers link in response to a question I search for, it always seems there are no recent comments, always at least 3 years old since someone responded or posted.

Yahoo is just one of those Companies that just want to expand there website like most people would probably just use it as a email provider and others would just go on yahoo just for the news but the Answer thing is Pretty much DEAD (As you said) Thats why i use Chacha or Google

Certainly, questions keep popping up on Yahoo and little to no reply is what the inquisitive mind gets because the spammers who like to answer questions for traffic probably gets banned in minutes too.

That's just the reason why many no longer look at YA again..

Also, the forum has greatly taken over Yahoo Answers place as an interactive community based website and it's going to keep declining but it still has a significant amount of traffic.

Answers.com has been gaining ground in this space, especially with the addition of the paid Category Experts.

YA is a place for me to get the answers for the former similar questions as mine, not a place to ask a question and wait for the answer.

Quora serves the question answer niche better.

Quora : Yahoo Answers, like Facebook : MySpace.

Yeah, I like Quora! The quality of the answers is much higher than on Yahoo Answers and overall service is much more attractive, due to extra features.

Sirr, you might also try Advicenators.com. It is old and ugly as sin, but there is a core group of users who give some pretty decent advice. Try asking a question requiring thought and care across the usual sites you listed here and compare the answers you get. I only get 1-3 answers there, but they are worth far more than 75 typical yahoo answers responses, at least to me.

Recently Yahoo Answers was updated with new features and looks to increase the interaction among the users. Now a days you can attach image or video file to your question/answer which was not possible earlier.

I feel that since they changed their design/structure that they "died" a bit. I don't usually use the site myself to ask/answer questions but I do browse it a lot since they rank quite well on google and i do feel like it's losing terrain to other sites.
