Have to say, this week I am in love with Facebook. I reported a rather serious security bug to them, and they paid me $5000 for reporting it. Amazing. I wasn't even expecting to get paid.

Facebook has actually become useful to me

Incredible! How did that happen?!?! If they freely gave you $5,000, it makes me wonder what it was really worth.

    Cheers!

Boost Software teamed up with Neverblue. They helped produce this new affiliate video.

I can't make the security vulnerability public, but I'll try explain how it came about.

I write Facebook software, mainly for personal use to make my life easier. And whilst I was writing a feature, I mistakenly left out some information in the POST request (developers will know what that means), but what I was trying to achieve worked without the required information.

I probed it further, and documented a Proof of Concept and a test case. I also sent them some software so they could see it happening. I reported out of good character, wasn't expecting no money for it.

2 weeks later I get an email telling me they've decided to give me $5000. I had to check the email was even real for about 10 minutes. Couldn't believe it.
