woah that brings back memories ...

My first serious GF was going to Julliard for piano. Billy Joel was one of her idols.
She dragged me to concert after concert. I was into heavy metal and the then
growing grunge. The first concert of his I went to ... I really ... really did not want to go.

I have to admit, I was hooked after the first one ... it was awesome.

I have been a fan ever since.

Good memories, thanks for that. It has been about 20 years ...

I have every album Billy Joel did up to the later of either the Russian concert album (sucked) or Storm Front (good stuff). Always been a fan.

I remember taking a girlfriend to an Alice Cooper concert years and years ago. She was pretty straight-laced, and Coop was out of her comfort range to begin with. She never expected what the opening act involved. A group called Spider, from NYC. The lead singer was a really tall woman in a bustier and fishnet stockings.

The phrase "evil chuckle" springs to mind.

This doesn't surprise me at all. Billy Joel is the ultimate, the creme de la creme of musicians who is able to uphold desirability regardless of generations. At least in my family, lol!

He's a favorite of four generations with us.

It all started with my mom who adored him with her favorite song being Piano Man.

I love Billy Joel too and my favorite is Piano Man as well, not only because it is an awesome song, but it reminds me of my mom. All three of my kids love the song too, saying it reminds them of me. And now there are my three oldest grand kids who love the song too and have it in their I-pod and MP3 players.

But they think this line "and the microphone smells like a beer" is "and the microphone smells like a deer", haha!

I also had to correct my son when he was younger because he thought this line "when I wore a younger man's clothes" was "when I wore another man's clothes" and asked me what that meant, Yikes!

        Ahh, the memories!

The kid was pretty good. Gotta love his confidence, it's not easy getting up in front of an audience that large. That's something he'll never forget.

I saw the Welcome to my Nightmare tour with people dressed as spiders and climbing on rope webs. Pretty creative as far as rock acts went back in the day. It was a good show.

I remember all the drunken Saturday nights partying to Billy Joel when I was about 14 or so.

Love it - and Billy Joel's music.

Every now and then you hear of a musician doing something like this with a fan - and it's always the cream-of-the-crop musicians that show such kindness.

One new group - Forte - that was a finalist America's Got Talent started after one of the members was called on stage to sing with Josh Groban.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.
