Need new computer recommendation

Hi everyone, I need a basic new computer, desktop or laptop for simple office use. This computer would be running microsoft office, quickbooks, internet browsers, and a few other basic softwares. I'm looking for the least expensive piece of equipment that can do the job well. Any recommendations?

    Any modern windows PC or laptop can do the sort of tasks you describe above. Just steer clear of netbooks with say only 2 gigs of ram and an Atom processor. they are slow. I also dont like Acer (anything), cheap and unreliable.

    Huge choice out there. I tend to buy HP as a rule which in both cases of laptop or desktop can be had for under 500 bucks. If you already have a monitor you can just go and buy a tower unit for about 350-450, even Walmart or other big box stores sell them alone.

    I would say Intel I3 processor or above or Amd equivelent. 4 gigs of ram or above and 500 gig hard drive or above.

    Not a great fan of Windows 8 and if you are used to the old stlye windows you should either look for one that already has the upgrade to 8.1 or get the free update online when ready. If you want it to behave and look like older versions you can google free windows shell. You can then make it look like 7 Vista or XP.
