RIP Answer man
My Sister and Brother-in-law went down there as well. We went with the idea that we could help him to get better and eventually bring him to MI. where he wanted to be for the summer.
He turned out to be sicker than we thought. He apparently had gone downhill from the time we had talked to him 3 days before. By the time I arrived at the Hosp. Sat afternoon all he could whisper was "home".
We put him under hospice care Sun afternoon and he passed Mon morning at 2:30AM.
It was just like him to pass on Memorial Day so he wouldn't inconvience us in the future.
The pamplet the hospice nurse gave us to read, outlined almost word-for-word his decline, which had most likely started 2 months previous.
He was 80 years old. Never graduated form high school ,but managed to work his way up to Assistant Plant Manager at a General Motors plant here in MI. He was an avid fisherman both in MI and Fla. and like alot of people from his generation, could figure out how to fabricate or fix just about anything.
He is the person I always called first when I had a problem working on or repairing anything.
His passing leaves an extremely large hole in my life, not to mention making me responsible for maintaining our cottage in MI. and making sure my Mother is ok.
The viewing at the funeral home starts this evening and I know that is when his passing will really hit home for me.
Not looking forward to it.
Just had to get this off my chest and tell someone, even if is people I've never met.
Thanks to all who read this.
Rest In Peace.
Kenneth Magnus aka the answer man.
