I was replying to an OP in the social media thread and some yahoo posted to the op not to listen to me and that I was negative and didn't know what I was talking about, so I responded accordingly.

I revisited the thread today and found that my reply was removed and the thread was locked, so now I look like an idiot from this member and I can't defend myself because the thread was locked.

Two can play that game is my answer to leaving me gagged from replying in my defense, from now on the OT forum will be the home of my posts, I will not go and help others in the main forum or the other sub forums, I'm not going to report spam anymore as I used to every time I would see it and there's no rule that says that I'm obligated to.

This really put a bad taste in my mouth and it was a dumb ass move by whoever the mod was to make the other person into the hero and me looking like a dog with his tail between his legs.

    And ouch!

    Games, hmmmm....

Wouldn't it be more productive to not think of it as a game to be won with a move to be countered, but rather just one of those things like a "Life is not fair" incident that we all encounter in the game of life?

Now we're curious to know what you said in your reply? Must have been a good one to have been removed. You go Joseph!

It's not the yahoo that got under my skin, I'm sure I can handle most discussions and debates, it's the mod that deleted my post then locked the thread that got under my skin.

The irony of this is that my reply to the OP was that you have no control over a site that doesn't belong to you, so I was replying in a sensible manner when someone said that basically I'm full of SH$#@T and my post being deleted is a perfect example of what I was conveying to the OP.

That was short lived, I'm over it already. The thing that really bothered me was both posts should have been removed, not just mine.

I wonder how long before some yahoo posts that asking why your post was deleted is against the rules, then I would have to tell them to either re-read my op or put a sock in it.

Corporal Dumbass, reporting for duty, SIR!
to make the other person into the hero and me looking like a dog with his tail between his legs.
Do you think that having a thread closed looks that way? I tend to think it looks, at least in an instance such as this, like a moderator decided the thread was off the rails, deleted the posts after that happened, and closed it to stop the bickering.

I think I did you a favor by deleting that one, along with the others which were removed. The hostility would have continued and it would have degenerated into the sort of thread that gets people banned for a few days as a cooling off period.

What is the appropriate response, Joseph? When a thread goes off the rails that badly, do we allow it to escalate, just so we don't have one person feeling bad because they didn't get to have the last 4-letter word?

Or do we delete the entire thread, regardless of any possible useful info in it, thus setting up a scenario in which anyone can get any thread removed just by being nasty?

Or do we pick a threshold point where things really start over the cliff, delete everything from there onward, and close the thread to stop the argument?

Something else? What would you suggest as a standard way of handling such situations?

I never seen any nasty posts after my reply to the trouble maker, I was away from my computer for a while and missed the all that, so for that I apologize for rushing the gun.

I don't expect to have the last word but the post that I was replying to should have also been deleted, it was uncalled for and you know as well as I do that not all but a lot of people think that the internet is the bible, "I read it on the internet so it must be true"

With that being said, when a newbie happens across that post and reads "Don't listen to joseph7384" they will must likely think that I'm full of SH%#@T and it derails any help that I try to give.

Nothing else! You did what you considered appropriate, but do you a least agree with the message that I was conveying? The OP was pissed that Facebook cut his visibility and I replied that It's their site and they set the rules but I was polite about it.

            I was polite about it.
I just looked at it again, and it turns out I didn't delete that one. I just agreed with the person who did. (It gets confusing after enough threads in one day...)

I would not necessarily consider this comment to be "polite" : And as far as you calling me a know it all, you know where you can stick that, up ..... ...?

My point was that I was polite in my other responses to the op and others, so that reply to me was uncalled for.

One person said that Facebook ppc was black hat and even though I said to myself "this guy is a bonehead" I was polite by saying that his thinking was extremely flawed, I didn't call him a pea brain or tell people not to listen to him.

You are reading it wrong. I am agreeing with the mod who decided that the "stick it up .... ..." comment made that specific post worthy of deleting.

Seriously - half the conversation has just vanished. It was very benign stuff, too - absolutely not controversial in anyway - stuff about fair rides, and crapping oneself if scared enough.

Just an FYI - looks like you have a glitch going on.
