That's nuts even If a buyer has a history of buying from the same category.

According to the patent, the packages could wait at the shippers’ hubs or on trucks until an order arrives.
Good luck with that because the product won't be sitting on a loading dock/truck for free (days/weeks/months/years/eternity).

Forget that. They'll just have their drones hover over your house until you place your order.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

I wish they would, the first thing I would order is a big butterfly net. Lets see how long it takes the 2nd drone to disappear.

There will be a bunch of drones on eBay...

That is an *********OLD********** technique! They have been doing it for over 100 years! OLD TIME General stores HAD to do it! HECK, I was telling some people at a restaurant only last friday that their corporation was STUPID for IGNORING buying patterns!!!!! They are shipping that place a product that DOESN'T SELL! MEANWHILE, what I want DOES sell, and HAS sold, and we are IGNORED! In MY case, this costs them about $7 a DAY in sales, JUST FROM ME! They could EASILY be losing DOZENS of dollars a day. Considering the cost and effort required, that is a FORTUNE! And $12/day is $3,132/year! A few years ago, I worked with an interface to allow a major INSURANCE company to do this!

EVEN the idea of doing this as a promotional item is FAR from new! A few YEARS ago, I got a snack at hotel when I returned in a welcome basket. HOW did they determine some stuff? They actually looked at what I threw away!!!!!! A nutritional company I have bought from sent me promotional items related to what I bought! I have seen a number of movies talking about places buying raw materials for a regular customer.

BTW this is NOT saying they will ship an item to YOU in advance! It is saying that they will ship more items that have statistically generated an interest in an area to the shipping warehouse for that area. That ALSO may be one way they rationalize and use their amazon prime service. Anyway, this means they can package things more efficiently, and send them using a cheaper and SLOWER method and STILL get it to you in less than 3 days. MOST of the distance that places would have had to have dealt with is ALREADY covered.
