Anyone watch Sherlock last night?

It was the first episode of season 3. Sherlock Holmes faked his own death. It was a brilliantly written episode, I thought.

I keep forgetting that different countries show these episodes at different times.

And that some countries have seen several episodes of Season three already.

With the Internet, there are no such thing as 'spoilers' anymore! Hell, we know stuff about shows before they even film them these days! Laurence, you insist on reading threads that name specific movies and TV shows; you have a fair idea of what the reading content is going to be. Then you whinge your head off about *spoilers*. Unbelievable!

I shudder to think what my telly watching would be like if it wasn't for the Internet. How people can sit through four minutes of commercials between the three-minute segments of each TV show is beyond me. Some shows clock in at less than 40 minutes if you subtract all the ads.

Speaking of the Internet, hurry up, new season of Game of Thrones. Hurry up!

I, too, prefer Elementary. I just can't take seriously anyone named Benedict Cumberbatch. It sounds like the name a six year old girl (or Claude) gives her teddy bear.

I get it. We all have an image of what a character should be.

Holmes is far more interesting with flaws, and tics.

I do prefer the Cumberbatch version, because he's less flawed, and more of a sociopath.

The writing is phenomenal on both shows.

Oh, and Cumberbatch was great as Khan in the second Star Trek movie.

But yeah, his name keeps sounding like Engelbert Humperdinck to me.

We get each series of Sherlock in three episodes, each one 90-minutes long. The last series recently aired, and I thought the final episode, in particular, was a real corker. But I understand how Cumberbatch as Holmes can be an acquired taste.

I enjoyed the first series of Elementary - and generally, I'm happy to watch anything starring Lucy Liu - but I gradually grew wearisome with the way the writers kept making the regular cops such morons.

All worthy actors to be sure, but let's not forget the incomparable Peter Cook's contribution:

        Sherlock is far superior,IMHO.
        S3E1 was AWESOME!

Cumberbatch And Freeman, very good on screen chemistry.

The writing on Elementary is mediocre, at best. Typical, predictable CBS crime drama. Snoozeville to me.

              Watched S3E2 last night.

Entertaining, however my least favorite thus far.

Here's hope that Episode 3 is more satisfying.(watching tonight)

              Claude,
Where you aware the actor who plays Mycroft (Mark Gatiss)
is the main writer? I was not till my Son told me so.

Rob, I thought the same, but ep 3 is a goodie. It might also make you appreciate ep 2 a little more.

Won't say any more or I'll have Laurence after me.

                  You are so right, Frank!

I can honestly say, that in all my years, that was the best episode of any series I have watched.

And, My Son tells me, All are on board for two more seasons.

I wasn't until I watched a special on Sherlock, and saw him with the creator of the series. This series is right up there with Doctor Who, in my opinion. The best writing on TV.
