What would you do if you were me? College kid advice

I'm not a marketer, I only stumbled into the idea of doing marketing because my mother became ill.

A little back story on me, I'm a 2nd year college student that’s pre-med, far from marketing and far from business. I've always wanted to be in medicine not for the money but to help. Kinda funny how at the end, I'm in need of that money..

The idea was to go to college, major in something your interested in, and make a stable career. Things were shaken up when my mother became ill, seriously ill to the point of being hospitalized for months. She has been in the hospital since September (my birthday). Father died a long time ago and mother was struggling just to survive, in hopes I'd make it out of poverty. She worked herself into the hospital..

Through scholarships, loans, and hard work it seemed like things were finally looking up.. until she became ill.

Speaking with the dozens of doctors and what test they want to run, how mother was doing and if she was conscious, what new developments happen, it become hard to focus on anything but her well being.

From CT scans, to x-rays, to removing liquid around the lungs, to possible amputations.. its taken its tole on me and my study.

The only thing on my mind is how to make money.. any money so I be there for her rather than be on a constant search for a job/interview/resume.

A couple things arose, it looked like mom was going to be kicked out of her home, no one was there to pay the bills until I used my loans to help. I left school shortly after that so I could be with her and help. She hasn't recovered... and is unable to even walk without rehabilitation.

I've looked for jobs with no luck, apparently no one wants to give a kid a try if he doesn't have experience. At the end of the day its just me and her, I did not realize how hard she worked and how easy it is become overworked.

I've thought of a couple things, to see if I could make income for her and me.

First it was investing, later to find out you need thousands and years I don't have to see any returns.

Second I thought, why not buy from China and resell it here, only to find out without connections there is no buying and traps held by seller wanting you to be scammed. Last one asked me to deposit what little money I had into her paypal account so I could make an order.

Third I thought I could sell things in the house like purses on ebay, only to find I had no bids for months on end and wasted hours.

Finally I thought, maybe I could do affiliate marketing... only to find out, no one clicks the links I provide from clickbank and I have no way of making it work.

Nothing I've tried seemed to work, and anytime I look for answer, I find people who want to make money off of me when in fact I'm barely surviving. Suicide did come to mind, but... I can't go before mom and I can't bare to know she would cry.

I do have an $8 work-study, that’s a start. What would you do if you were me to make income. Anything would suffice, even a dollar a month now because its better than $0.

So why did I make this post? As an appeal, not for money but for advice. Things do look bleak, I know I maybe need to face reality that there is no money and I would need to sacrifice things like school or health to make money.

But as an appeal... what would I do? Your experts at this, what would you do if you were me?

I'm not you, and neither is anyone else over here. I'm sure many of us can relate to you, but this is a decision that you have to make since you have to live with it.

My first response is that you are not responsible for your mother. I take it that you're an only child? If you had siblings, then I'd say they were your responsibility...but your parents are not.

Plus, I'm sure your mother would want you to make something of yourself. With that being said, you shouldn't throw your life away because your mother is sickly/dying. You already took loans out so dropping out of school would be most unwise.

If I were you, and I'm not, but if I was, I would just stay the course. You have no one to look after (like younger siblings).

The military is hiring, although your suicidal thoughts might disqualify you from service. But that would pay well enough and you could go into the medical field that way...provided you do well enough on the ASVAB.

Only other thing I can suggest is to read this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...desperate.html

It sounds like you're getting desperate...and so you gotta focus on things you can do today, not 3 months from now. Best of luck.

Thanks that means allot, its just gotten to me so much I literally have no clue what other options are available. Its not my fault, but I care about my mother, I don't want her to lose her home. I thought doing IM as a side job while caring for her would help but I've had no luck. I've tried doing it on my own thinking I could make it only to fail and see how excruciating difficult it is. I'm dumbfounded how it is possible others are making it while I'm floundering trying to gasp at whats available.

Military is an option but she still needs me, she doesn't speak english and needs translation since I'm the only person she trust. Its like a puzzle and I'm hitting the wall trying to found a way out. A way to finding some source of stability out of my hectic circumstance. I will take a look at the page, thanks for the advice.

    dove99x,

Becoming a doctor is GRUELING! You have to go to one set of classes to get to another set of classes just to help you intern while you take another set of classes. You spend a LOT of money and time to lower other peoples worklevels, and get paid often nothing for it so you can one day get to the level where others do it for you.

IF you are at or near the intern level, the military might let you intern THERE, pay you, AND cover at least part of your training. It is worth a shot. The ASVAB basically tests your knowledge of various areas to determine if you can do well there and what you might best be able to do. In fact ASVAB stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. So your taking the ASVAB SHOULD be superfluous.

After falling for scams and useless products in the past, I don't have any money to spend, so this is what I do: I go to websites that allow you to make money without any investment. Like selling ebooks on Amazon. Find websites that are similar to them. If it's a free website, but they have poor traffic, it isn't worth signing up. It also helps to find a forum about whatever subject your chosen niche is in(has to be good like the Warrior Forum) and email lists, good ones that are not always selling you something 24/7, but give you free information you can use to make money. I'm on a few in one of my niches that is simply golden. Sometimes you need that extra information to get you to where you need to be. You can make money online, I do, so just keep hanging in there.
