okay.... before KimW labelled this SPAM, I had a link in here. I was just going to delete the thread... but apparently that is a feature this forum doesn't have.

So I took out the link and now am just curious if any Stones fans had an opinion... you don't have to enter it on another site, just voice your opinion here (if you care to):

Who is the Greatest Music Talent in the Rolling Stones -- Keith Richards or Mick Jagger

Thanks
Anne

Spam.. wow, ouch. I took out the link.

I thought it was alright to simply ask an off-topic question in the Off Topic forum. If not, then I'll change title to Admins: Please Delete Thread as well.

I didn't see the link, so I can't comment on the spam thing (how can a link
about the Rolling Stones be spam? :confused but to answer your question, it's
really hard to say between the two who is the more talented. Their talents
      are so different.

Mick Jagger is a character. He has a voice that is absolutely unmistakable.

Keith Richards is one of the most identifiable guitarists on the planet. Notice I
didn't say best. There are plenty of guitarists who can play faster and better.
But listen to his opening licks in "Happy" from 1972 or "Brown Sugar" from
      1971.

Let's put it this way. The Rolling Stones, without either one of these guys,
would not have been The Rolling Stones.

Steve, and OP, the link went to a squidoo lens that had basically the question about the Rolling Stones and a mile long page selling Rolling stone shirts.Since the shirts made up 99.9% of the page, I considered it SPAM.
AnnE, you can put the link back in if you think my call was off, or, you do have the power yourself to delete the thread, you don't need an admin to do it, and,if your goal was to really get opinions about your question then you can create a thread with or without a poll for your question.
As far as this goes:,"I thought it was alright to simply ask an off-topic question in the Off Topic forum" ,it is perfectly alright,so why didn't you want the answer to you questions answered in the off topic forum?
AnnE if you think I was wrong, please put the post back to orginal posting and lets see if others felt I was wrong.

I'll say Billy Preston, who was the "unofficial 5th Stone" and played keyboards for the Stones on tour and on many albums.

    KimW,

It's fine. When I think about it, you are right that the replies should go here.

Just for future reference though... how do you delete a thread entirely? Because I used the search function and found a thread here where someone asked that question and was told that you couldn't... not to get off-topic on my off-topic... but here is that thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...my-thread.html

Kurt & Steven thanks for your replies Kurt, you are the first to nominate Billy Preston (I also asked this question on-topic on a music forum).

Go to edit,at the bottom of the post there are 4 options:
    Save,Go Advanced,Delete and cancel.
Now, if you want my answer, I would have to go with Brian Jones.

Edit: My bad, you were saying delete thread and my brain was reading post.
You are correct, you can't delete a thread.

Hey, we all make mistakes, as I think I did with original version of original post. But I really did want to hear people's opinions.

So why did you pick Brian Jones? Another unexpected pick. Though the Stones were pretty rich in talent. Not like anyone was just along for the ride. Maybe being able to identify high caliber people is part of why they've been successful for so long.

Brian Jones because he was one of the founders of the Stones, he brought in Jagger who brought in Richards, and his musical talent was one of the factors that distinguished them from all the other brit bands trying to make it back then.
Take a listen to Paint it black.
One of my fondest memories was seeing the Stones at RFK Stadium in 1972..........

Mick Taylor was the most talented musician but did not stay long as he wasn't weird enough for them.
