Hi

I am in the process of forming a Ltd. company and am toying with names.

My Wife suggested "companyname Enterprises Ltd." would be good, as it's generic and can cover anything. I don't mind it but thought it might seem a little pretentious.

I wondered about simply "companyname Ltd."; a lttle less pretentious.

I will be doing two quite different things; Internet marketing, and suppling my services in a training context (offline) with in the motor sport industry.

Both names are available at both Companies House, and as domain names.

Thanks for any opinions

Ian, my vote would be for the shorter name (Companyname Ltd).

I presume your company will have a website, in which case adding "Enterprises" could make the URL a little unwieldy.

I suggest using a power word or any word that says something about your services. It will be good for branding. Choose names that can trigger a name recall like Winners Club or Warrior or something similar.

To me, and I think in the US in general, "Enterprises" has a sort
negative connotation with fly by night 'doing business as' instead of real
corporations. Joe Smith Enterprises - the kind of guy that will take your
money down for say, landscaping, and then disappear.
