I've often thought about that... for me it was the movie 'South Pacific'. I must have been around 8, living in Oklahoma, and when I saw that palm tree in Emile de Becque's yard, well, I was hooked. I thought about that palm tree and travelling to those exotic tropical islands and just couldn't get it out of my mind.

As it turns out, my dad later joined the civil Service and our first overseas tour was Turkey. And travelling turned out to be just as wonderful as I had expected.

And I'm thankful we lived there when we did - in the 60's. I can remember my dad being ecstatic when he had to go to Beirut (at that time Beirut was the 'Monte carlo of the Middle east'). It's sad how times change.

I could ramble on forever, but I'll conclude by saying I've been truly blessed to have lived and worked all over the world, and I'll always remember that palm tree in South Pacific.

Had to think about this one.

Yes, the movie that changed my life was one that may seem very unlikely to people without explanation. It was The Omen.

I was extremely allergic to animals when I was a child. I was able to keep hamsters and that was as big as a furball could get before it caused me problems with my asthma. But I loved anything with fur on it -- and all live little things even without fur (with the exceptions of a few types of bugs).

While I was able to get my asthma under control when I visited a doctor while I was living in Germany, I lived in apartments for many years and never really thought about owning a dog.

Then one year, living in a house with acres of property, I saw the Omen. One look at that intelligent puppy faced Rottweiler and I was hooked. I looked them up and read everything I could find about them, then went and adopted my first little guy - an 8 week old rotty. I knew carrying him into the house on that first day that if my asthma kicked in I was in trouble because I already loved him too much to let him go for any reason.

Since then I've become known to some as a dog whisperer. I've had several over the years, each was my best friend. Each to come will also be.

I had forgotten about the reason I started raising and training dogs. One simple and unlikely movie and my life has changed forever and for the better.

Great story! I really like rottweilers, but my favorite is a doberman. Both breeds are really misunderstood... they're awesome pets!

Once I looked into the eyes of a beautiful girl and I actually saw the universe in there... That was shocking...
