Hashtag Suck It! - Aussie Humour at the Oscars.

You may have noticed, during Cate Blanchett's Best Actress Oscar speech that she told Julia Roberts to 'Hashtag Suck It!' Apparently it was some in-joke between the Oscar winning lovelies, referencing a humorous conversation they had at the bar, prior to Cate's award being announced. Aussie women can be very forthright and sometimes swear and cuss every bit as much as the men. We're a tough bunch over here!

As a fellow Aussie and fellow Sydneysider (I live a few suburbs away from beautiful Ms Blanchett), I just wanted to say how proud and genuinely thrilled I am for her and her Oscar win!

Having only been to the Sydney Theatre Company once, to see American Oscar winner William Hurt in 'Long Day's Journey Into Night', my path did cross once with that of Ms Blanchett. The only reason I would normally go near the STC was because it is on the way to my favourite fishing spot in Walsh Bay, near Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Anyway, after seeing the play, I told front of house at the Theatre that I enjoyed the show and asked them to pass on 'a kiss on the fair hand of the lovely Ms Blanchett'. (sadly enough, this story is actually true). I received a message back, a short time later saying 'how thrilled she was with the message!' I guess when you've got the magic huh!?

Congrats again to our wonderful Cate! Australia loves you, you've done us proud! xx
