...and every pixel is a different color!

For a competition, Hungarian computer programmer Jozsef Fejes created a program that creates digital pictures using a different color for pixel.

The end result, which won the competition, was a 4096 by 4096 pixel image that contains nearly 17 million different colors. Smaller images created by the program, like the ones seen in the video below, will give you a good idea of how cool this is.

    Now if we can just get the human eye to see more than a few 100,000 different colors.

    I would have guessed we can't even differentiate between that many. I think it's a cool concept though, watching the pictures transform is kind of neat. Wouldn't want to watch it all day, but it's a nice change of pace.

    I enjoyed seeing that. There was one that I wouldn't mind hanging on the dining room wall.

      I feel like I should be saying "wow, that was beautiful" but I found it uncomfortable - I guess that's the best word.

      Wonder why.

        Maybe it was the background music, Kay.

        I found the music to be uncomfortable. It reminded me of the movie Titanic when the film was showing drowning people floating on the sinking ship and two little kids about to be drowned as their mother tries to put them to sleep by reciting Wynken, Blynken, and Nod, focusing on the last verse. Sooo sad!

        Wynken, Blynken, and Nod
        by Eugene Field

        Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
        Sailed off in a wooden shoe,—
        Sailed on a river of crystal light
        Into a sea of dew.
        "Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
        The old moon asked the three.
        "We have come to fish for the herring-fish
        That live in this beautiful sea;
        Nets of silver and gold have we,"
        Said Wynken,
        Blynken,
        And Nod.

        The old moon laughed and sang a song,
        As they rocked in the wooden shoe;
        And the wind that sped them all night long
        Ruffled the waves of dew;
        The little stars were the herring-fish
        That lived in the beautiful sea.
        "Now cast your nets wherever you wish,—
        Never afraid are we!"
        So cried the stars to the fishermen three,
        Wynken,
        Blynken,
        And Nod.

        All night long their nets they threw
        To the stars in the twinkling foam,—
        Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
        Bringing the fishermen home:
        'Twas all so pretty a sail, it seemed
        As if it could not be;
        And some folk thought 'twas a dream they'd dreamed
        Of sailing that beautiful sea;
        But I shall name you the fishermen three:
        Wynken,
        Blynken,
        And Nod.

        Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
        And Nod is a little head,
        And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
        Is a wee one's trundle-bed;
        So shut your eyes while Mother sings
        Of wonderful sights that be,
        And you shall see the beautiful things
        As you rock in the misty sea
        Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:

        — Wynken, Blynken, And Nod.

          I had to watch the video again just to listen to the music. The first time I watched it I had my own music playing and had the video muted. I like the video better with my own musical choice playing. Shocking, isn't it? :rolleyes:
