Is it really jewish, or merely kosher. If you follow only the BIBLICAL laws, you CAN be jewish and not kosher. You can also certainly be kosher and not jewish.

Of course any jewish person is allowed to eat any rabbinically KOSHER food, prepared and served the right way. And probably a lot of reform and conservative jews don't eat only rabbinically kosher food, etc....

HEY, SNAPPLE is rabbinically kosher! Most, if not all, lemonade is kosher, albeit often not rabbinically. so how many here drank THAT.

The only groups with chain restaurants or lots of them in America are the Mexicans, Chinese, Italians and maybe the Japanese with Benihana type restaurants in almost every major metro area.

I'm not sure who to ascribe all the fried chicken joints to - either southerners or black Americans or both.

There was once a Hungarian restaurant in the building I worked in. I was introduced to goulash and it was great and they also made a fantastic sweet flat cornbread.

There was also an Iranian restaurant in the same building, and they can sure braze some chicken. They had a buffet and a group of us would go there during lunch and feast for about $5.99 back in 1996.

They lasted about 6 months before they closed.

    Thank God for taste buds!

WHO KNOWS? Ironically, most chains are REGIONAL. That means that if you haven't been to a given region, you may never know of them. Some examples are popeyes, jimmy johns, bojangles. There ARE a couple more Japanese, chinese, THAI, etc..., that appear to be ETHNICALLY japanese. I wish I could remember the names. And I say ethnically, because there is PF CHANGS, owned by the owner of ruths chris, that even a chinese citizen told me wasn't really chinese.

Usually, just considered american. Though there are more traditional ones, like KFC, and more cajun ones like popeyes. Most of the cajun ones DO seem to be more targeted towards "black americans", but that is understandable given that that area has so many blacks, etc...

Well, 50% of businesses go out of business within 4 years. One of the businesses that has to be most closely watched is a RESTAURANT. With all the spoilage, pilferage, and bad preparation.

Fried chicken is a product of the southern part of the U.S. but you're right it is generally thought of as simply American.

The Cajon ones are targeted towards anyone interested in Cajon/New Orleans type food.
