How Do You Feel About People Who Join Just To Sell WSO's?

People who join WF for the sole purpose of selling in the WSO forum without taking part in general discussions or contributing to the forum.
Just curious, that's all ...

If they sell wso and don't post a bunch of garbage posts just to get
people to look at their link ... then i don't care.

When they do, it annoys me.

A few years ago I would have felt differently but today everyone and his brother runs a WSO - and all the cousins are selling them.

If someone joins the War Room and pays to run a WSO, more power to them. I think it's hard to sell a WSO when no one knows who you are but if people want to try, it's none of my business.

And I join organizations with the sole purpose of selling their membership. All my advertising, marketing, articles, advice, websites, blogs, videos....are there for the sole purpose of making sales.

But does that make me a bad person? Yes. Yes it does.

I wouldn't buy from them, either

But I don't care if they run WSOs - it doesn't affect me.

LOL - there goes my thunder. Why do I care what people I don't know are doing? I've actually participated here so know the pros in any area that I might need to hire someone for or ask questions of. If some people don't understand networking that's their own problem. It's part of business so if they don't want to work for someone else they should probably get around to figuring it out, huh.

I mentioned this on a paid forum I used to be a member of and the forum owner immediately took offense. Of course, I was messing with his ability to earn more money. On the other hand, we were a paid community that, at that time, were very close knit and it seemed kind of scummy to have strangers come there with the sole purpose of advertising to us.

Like Kay and Terra mentioned, we don't even know many of these people, so it really doesn't or shouldn't affect us, unless we buy something and it's garbage.

Personally, I'd like to see a minimum post count in place and at least "some" active contribution before they were allowed to do a WSO. The old "give before you can receive" thinking.

    My two bits.

It totally depends on the product. People need to pay bills, buy food, pay for medical care, pay for kids education. I don't fault them for having the primary purpose here of making money. Not doing so is like those people who go to nudist beaches and pretend to be doing so for reasons other than looking at naked people.

That may be the reason for going the first time...have you ever been to a nudie beach? Their populations aren't normally made up of the 'beautiful people'.

Some such beaches are not so easy on the eyes, I gather? I accidentally wandered onto one near UBC called Wreck Beach. From my quick impression a lot of them were young and goodlooking, maybe because it is near a university. I guess my biggest impression there was seeing a naked woman barbecuing meat and thinking that looked kind of dangerous (unshaven). Also, seeing naked vendors selling drinks from boxes strapped to their torsos was kind of hilarious. I guess it always struck me as odd to choose a nude beach at a big city bay over less polluted beaches not so much further away.

I will say that the people here at Off Topic are probably the smartest and nicest online group of individuals I've come across (including a screenwriting group where it frequently got nasty) and money is definitely not my motive for being at this particular zone.
