Oscar Pistorius - Is the Blade Runner Guilty?

Anyone else following the former Olympian's murder trial in South Africa? Did he shoot his girlfriend intentionally? If so, what would his motive have been?

Complicated legal proceedings. Now I read that he was surfing porn sites on the night of the fatal shooting. How is this relevant? Sad story whatever the outcome.

He's a guilty perpetrator of an ugly killing and has mental problems. He demonstrated that himself and pretty much said it. Could he be so deranged that he'd do that unknowingly? I don't know the guy, so I can't say for sure.

Even if he is not guilty of pre-meditated murder, he is guilty of extreme callousness and is a dangerous person. I just don't understand why he was granted bail in the first place.

It is too bad she didn't dump that rancid lying pile of stinking human excrement and leave him alone to fester in his fortified outhouse. How much can a society bend over backwards in weird contortions to rationalize the gruesome actions of violently deranged criminals?

Loving your creative use of vocabulary here Thunderbird, very descriptive! But he hasn't been found guilty yet, right?

He is guilty. No one disputes that, not even Pistorious. He said he shot her. The question is if he's so violently deranged that he had no clue who she was. If so, someone like that shouldn't be released on the streets. He could "accidentally" kill other people.

Is he guilty of first degree murder? Thanks for your comments.

Thankfully, there are justice systems that will tend to be more fair than the subjective and emotional reactions ignited by reading the details of the bloody shooting of a beautiful good-hearted woman who was screaming before it happened.

                  Yikes!
I'm definitely not a legal expert. Shall wait to hear the court's verdict. It is a very sad story and heartbreaking for all involved.

Good point. I am happy to leave it up to the justice system to reach a clear decision on this one. You are right about 'subjective and emotional reactions' too. I think we all make them at times, the media stirs up provocative story angles and confused reportage. It can be easy to lose track of the facts.

Sky news follows this court trial with daily updates and stuff. I find it kind of pathetic how Sky follow basically the same format of US news stations and overdo every little thing with their "breaking news" updates and all the other crap stuff, and to be honest I find it quite distasteful how they make entertainment out of somebody elses misery.

Personally I think that people that follow stuff like this are the same type of braindead morons you see that instantly whip their phone out to video an accident or something even though there's a hundred other people all doing the same thing. No offence.

Just to add, I'm not interested one way or the other whether he's found guilty or not.

A bit hard not to be 'following' this one Alistair - it's all over the news bulletins. Never filmed an accident on my phone, not about to start!
