It's Sunday and so of course, the husband and I started off the day by going on our Sunday date. And also of course, I made sure to FB not only my coffee but my husband as well.

Here's one of the responses:

"You know, we all follow a lot of people who are successful, and many of them are posting pictures or updates of their latest travels, the resort they're staying at, their new toy....blah, blah, blah. When you post Sunday dates with the hubby and especially when you post his smiling face (which is super sweet and infectious, btw) THAT's what success looks like to me. "

And that got me thinking. The folks you follow - do you prefer to see the travel/exotic places pix or the down-home "Hey! I have a family too!" pictures?

definitely, for me, it is easier to look through ad nauseum at the exotic travel pictures than it is to look through extensive family photo albums. they are simply more diverse and relatable. but, i do enjoy seeing "down-home family photos" as well, as they show the truest side of people, what they are really like most of the time!

I like pictures of guys named Fred. If there's no one named Fred in the picture, holding a sign that reads "My name is Fred," then I get bored. I think most people would agree.

Barb; The real answer is you use both pictures. Why? Because the pictures are part of the marketing. Family pictures make people believe that you are more trustworthy. Exotic picture appeal to people who believe that's how wealthy people live.

        Me? Don't care.

By the way, I remember infomercial for a classic collection of symphony music. The spokesman had an English accent, stood in (what looked like) a cramped apartment...with a hap in the middle of the room, and a grand piano...with lots of copies of famous painting on the wall. He wore a silk robe, with an ascot.

Yup. Poor people believe that wealthy people wear a robe and ascot during the day...with a harp and piano in the middle of their apartment.

The thing is, I'm not joking. Some people really think that wealthy people take endless vacations in exotic locations...and sip champagne...and smoke cigars...and talk about polo.

But if you're a Guru? You have to show the exotic pictures, because that is what your buyers think they want...and they think that's how you live.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

I prefer to see pictures of their families, especially if they have hot wives or girlfriends. Depending how ugly the guy is and the hotness of his wife/girlfriend ratio you can work out how rich they are. It's a well known fact that hot women only marry rich guys. (as published in my thesis (Hottie Guru Ratio's) at Rice University 2007)

          Here are some stats:
