Default Why does a thread get CLOSED, totally confused

Hi all,

I was reading a thread by a woman who was following the 7day secret challenge and after checking back, there was this little greyish-black button that said CLOSED.

From what I read (and understood) she did nothing wrong. But then somebody posted and said they hoped this was hopefullly not another way to make a following to buy a future WSO.

I made a comment (as a noob) and somebody else made a comment that building up exitement and then offering a WSO was not allowed.

The original poster replied sincerely and after that, it said CLOSED. What's up! What's wrong here??? She sounded really sincere and I was impressed with her action plan, yet she was deleted (closed thread).

What part of s*t*u*p*i*d* don't I understand? ANY clarification is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance, Eva

I'm aTINY fish in a BIG pond, and no, I do not want to go there. DEMOCRACY FOR ALL, how true is that (and NO I am not saying that there is NO democracy in this forum). All I am trying to do is learn (and let the high powers do what they seem necessary, lol)...

Just curious, that's all !

First of all, you should know that this forum is member-moderated. That means that you are a moderator here also. If enough members hit the "Report Post" button, then that thread will be deleted.

Only a mod can bring a thread back, and sometimes that happens, but if enough members thought that thread was a WSO presell, then there is your answer.

Vikuna2009+,

Sometimes the way the thread is set up or by the tone of some answers coming in, the stage is set to let controversial subjects or posts start to create waves which will ultimately lead to arguments. These posts can be spotted early on once you start to read enough threads start to go bad. LOL! Don't take it personal and most likely you had nothing to do with it. Sometimes a post is destined to disappear simply because it's only purpose is to create waves and can't possibly... or most likely will not produce anything productive.

Hi,

First of all if the thread was closed that means it wasn't deleted just closed. Being closed it will quickly move to page 2, 3, 4 etc.

Just from the way you describe it it seems like it might have fallen under one of two type of threads that get closed.

1. One that takes on such a life of it's own that it stays on page one forever and grows up into the hundreds of replies and thousands of views. Sometimes but not always the powers that be here feel a thread can stay for future reference but doesn't need to be on page one any more.

When you think of it if this wasn't done then similar posts would be started on purpose just to stay on page one forever. Why? Sig exposure? Popularity contest? I don't know just thoughts.

2. Very much like above but for the express purpose of introducing a new method or launch. Great thread, a ton of valuable information deserves to be here for the great info but needs to be closed so copycats won't be encouraged to do the same thing.

Watch me do this or that. Look over my shoulder while I .... etc.

This is what I see and my personal interpretation. Not gospel and not meant to start an argument.
