I am almost embarrassed to admit that for the first time in my adult life, I'm fearful of what can happen next. And I'm mad at me for it too because I know better but...

Back on March 20th, I had to rush hubby to the ER with severe abdominal pain. The cat scan showed that his small intestine had twisted and folded over itself and it was grayish, indicating dead tissue.. He was rushed into major emergency surgery as several doctors were telling me if the grayish part didn't pink up after they untwisted it, they would have to do a bisection, removing the dead intestine and reconnecting the alive parts.

After surgery, the surgeon told me that it pinked right up and I got him to the hospital in time, that was the good news. The maybe not good news was that they found two tumors/lumps/masses on his intestines and a band had grown between them that had twisted around and basically tied the intestine off. But they had to do a biopsy on the tumors/lumps/masses to determine if they were cancerous.

Thank God they were not! Apparently at some point he had an infection or inflammation that caused scar tissue (the tumors/lumps/masses) and it was a band of scar tissue as well that caused the whole thing. Whew! I took him to get all of his staples out a week ago today but he can't go back to work until the 21st of April with restrictions, then they'll be lifted on May 5th...hopefully...

The following week, March 25th, I had an accident at work. I sacrificed myself to save a little boy whose mother wasn't watching him. Well, I did, lol! It sounds more dramatic than what it is, but hey, I guess that's just the writer in me popping out, haha! Anyway, I smashed my left hand and got it stuck so that the little boy wouldn't get smashed. I ended up breaking both the proximal phalanges and metacarpus' of the pinky and ring finger. That's four breaks. They had to cut my wedding rings off first thing.

And if that wasn't bad enough, the next accident involved my daughter and three grand kiddies. This past Saturday, they had visited and were on their way home driving on the expressway. My daughter called and told hubby that she thought she was just in a tornado as a vortex full of debris pushed her over a lane and a half, half off of the freeway and now it was starting to hail golf ball size hail. Hubby told her to find an overpass and get under it until the hail stopped. She did and stayed on the phone with hubby until it stopped. She did and they hung up.

Less than three minutes later, she called back completely freaking out. Hubby put the phone on speaker so I could hear too. She said she was just in an accident, she was screaming and crying and so were the grandkids. While we were asking if she was okay, we heard a kabaam! She was hit again. She then went into a panic attack and hubby was telling her she had to calm down and breathe slowly so she could talk to him and check the kids to see if they were okay. Another loud Kabaam! She was hit again and then she was completely silent. We could only hear the kids screaming and crying!

Bill went ballistic calling her name. The last hit had knocked the phone from her hand. When she got back on, he asked if she was okay and she said no. He told her to hang up with him and call 911 but a lady was on the phone next saying she was calling 911. We all hung up. Then the vortex was at our house downing pines in the back and dropping 2 inches of hail. We lost power but no damage to the house or the vehicles.

First of all, before I continue, the three grand kids are okay, they just have wicked red marks from the seat belts. I know some of you don't believe, but I attribute that to God and perhaps guardian angels. Anyway what happened was this...

After she started driving again, she got to a spot on the freeway where the hail was larger and beginning to melt which made the pavement sheer ice. She started spinning and ended up facing the wrong way on the freeway just in time to see a pickup truck about to hit her head on. It hit her head on but from the middle of the car over to the passenger side. That sent her into a spin again the other way. That's when she called us. Then she got rear ended by another car, and then side swiped by yet another car. I have never been so scared in my entire life hearing all of that! It was horrific! OMG! OMG! Her car is totaled and they had to pry her out with the jaws of life.

Miraculously, she has no broken bones, internal injuries or lacerations! Her face is all swollen on the left side and she has deep muscle contusions and her cheek and jaw bone are bruised, but not broken. She has a severe concussion.

Her right knee is swollen and black and blue and again, nothing broken but deep muscular contusions and a bruised knee cap bone. Her whole back and neck, from the base of her skull to the base of her spine is all lumpy with knotted muscles. The doctor said she pulled, sprained and strained all of the her muscles and tendons and they speculate that she tightened/tensed up before the hit causing all of that. But again, no breaks or fractures! OMG! She's out of the hospital now, but she's in severe pain.

Here's some pictures of the damage that storm caused up the road a bit and a video below. I didn't take pictures of ours because I just didn't have it in me with other matters more important to tend to...

Storm Damage

Oh, and we just got power back today, so I'm here now...but I'm frightened something else bad is going to happen any moment. I know that's bad, but I can't help it!

Hey Terra, long time no see. What's new?

lol - Nothing like a little (very little) humor to lighten things up!

Seriously though, I'm glad everyone is OK, if battered, stitched, stapled, bruised, and otherwise beat up.

Now, you folks need to cut down on the drama a bit, you know? Going to go look at the photos now.

By the way, in case you came straight to the OT, Allen sold the Warrior Forum.

      LOL Steve! Only you.

She was not driving while talking to us. She was on the side of the road when she first called us. The phone was on the seat as she drove to the overpass just up ahead. Then she obviously wasn't driving after the second call. She had been hit head on...

      Thanks Suzanne, me too!

Funny how my daughter broke no bones in all of that, but me smashing my hand and getting it wedged between metal and the floor got four breaks. Strange, for sure. But I'm glad I got broken instead of her, though.

Relax - it's over and everyone came through it. Even in bad times, you all got lucky. The universe seems to like you. Tell Bill for me...........Just STOP it. That is not a request.

Just got off the phone with my dad when I saw this and he was telling me about the storm. 4 days without electric in APRIL! Wowzer.

Want a note of good news? I'll be seeing you in July. My dad's 90th birthday is the 23rd and I'm coming home that week. By that time we can sit with a bottle of Asti and talk about all this crazy mutant crap in retrospect - so put it behind and think about a good time ahead for us both.

You American Indians have all the fun Ms Terrakee. I had wondered where that picture of the the woman with the big hair had gone too.

But seriously, glad you and yours came thru it all in (nearly) one piece! Good to see you back!

My wife decided to shut our Tacomma bed lid on my right pinky finger a few years back, i just pulled it away in time otherwise the top finger tip end joint would have been completely severed. It was hanging by a thread. They sewed it back on and the fingernail survived and it has a little numbness still though most of the nerves joined back up. Amazing really.

However, would never be a great guitarist (not that I ever was)

Yikes that sounds painful! Mine are the bones after second knuckle and after the third knuckle which is actually what I call my hand. That's on both fingers.

I took guitar lessons when I was 11 years old. I was a wimp and quit after the blisters appeared, lol! Anyway, I obviously wasn't going to be that great of one either.

Fun? Ha! But I did want to thank you for reminding me that I'm a Cherokee. After I read that, I did the Cherokee war cry at the top of my lungs and I gotta tell ya, I feel so much better!

You were half-way there! After the blisters come callouses, and it gets easier from there. You didn't play long enough to know if you had potential or not. Are you a good singer? For those blessed with a good voice, the guitar can be just a vehicle to showcase the voice, the playing doesn't have to be good, just adequate.

Hey, I'll have you know that I did play "This Land Is Your Land" by Woody Guthrie all the way through and along with the song too, lol! My blisters didn't turn to callouses, that I remember. All I know is that it got so painful playing, that I didn't want to play anymore.

      I appreciate that Laurence!

In reading over my post I realized I was very vague in my description of my accident at work, it's just that I was more concerned with my family than myself, I guess.
      What happened was this...

One of the guys was pushing a heavy metal four tier cart with merchandise on it when out of nowhere a little boy came running and was heading right in front of the path of the cart. I didn't even think, I just reacted and went running and scooped the little boy out of the way, but with all the momentum of my mad dash and spin, I lost my balance and went sliding on the floor next to the cart.

During this, the guy saw the little boy and attempted to swerve to miss him but the cart toppled over and landed on part of my left hand. It was so heavy, I couldn't pull my hand out and the guy couldn't lift it off of me. I was stuck until another guy employee and a male customer got there to help him lift it back up.

Can I just say OUCH!!! I was proud of myself though because I didn't even scream out in pain or anything. I think it was because I knew a lot of people were looking at me, haha! But I was sweating profusely, though, lol!

Hahaha! No, but I can honestly say that the acting skills have helped in that arena.

Thanks TB! That and feeling stronger and more fearless every minute!

Wow Terra.....you've been through so much in such a short period.

    I'm glad everyone is recovering.

    Big hugs to you!

That must have been scary beyond mortal comprehension!!!! So glad everyone is alive.

Lots of big hugs for all, really glad that all are recovering. Last September my son decided to argue with a car and got the worst of it - he recovered fully. Very lucky our children are!

Thanks Jaq and Barbling! I never turn down hugs. Rumor has it that I am one of those touchy feely types, lol!

And thanks to all of you, I am getting back to my usual happy-go-lucky self. Your support, concern and friendship has worked wonders for me and means more than words can express.

      I love my OT peeps!
