WTF Our Country Is Screwed Up They Charge a Guy 525.00 For a Soda?

Yep, that is pretty dumb all right!

Sounds like the officer or Hospital wanted to make a fast buck; in a civilized society the officer should have acknowledged that the signs were not obvious and let him off!

But this sort of BS happens all the time in AU, with CBD speed cameras.

I drove home from an event near Melbourne, years ago, turned left when the lights were going amber, and since the car in front was slower than l thought, l got the red turn lights by 1.5 seconds!

Zero change of hurting anyone, but l copped a $315 dollar fine.

The police acted like lowlifes, since l didn't have a lot of money back then, but l was able to pay in installments over a year.


I recently cam back from the same event, and watched as some cars turned right across the same street, same crap!

The last 2 cars in a group of 5, turned when the lights went red eventhough the cars ahead were slow. And the speed cameras flashes went off!

Is this sort of thing fair? We are just paying and losing points for a strict rule. Not because we will kill or hurt anyone. It is virtually impossible to hurt anyone by pushing the turn lights.

A good example of a harsh rule that needs to be abandoned.


It is true that we have a 8 billion a year, greenie BS tax to pay, but that shouldn't mean we have to have harsh rules to compensate for it!


Yep, this guy loses his job, so the other a**** keeps his, buy infringing fines. Or the Hospital desperate for funding, is pushing this dirty rule.

Probably too many people wising up to the hideously expensive Cancer treatments, and finding cheaper options?

I always go to a blogspot blog for breaking news.

I have been an out patient at the VA hospital in Charleston and have used the cafeteria and the snack bar that this incident took place in. Frankly the signs about "Refills Must Be Paid For" are visible and frankly, in my opinion the construction worker knew that refills had to be paid for.

The fine he received is about right for shop lifiting and court cost. It is not unusual also for a convicted shop lifter to be barred from any retail outlet or from any building they steal from. Don't forget it was also mentioned the construction worker apparently showed some aggression when the police arrested him.

The Charleston VA Hospital is a huge facility and on any day will have thousands of patients and staff on the campus. The VA police have to approach suspects of any possible crime the same way any police officer does in a small city/town.

Just like when anyone shop lifts from any retail outlet they are hurting the other customers of that retail outlet, by driving up the prices to cover the losses of the shop lifted product. However, in the case of being in the VA hospital ,many of the patients, which have to pay those increased prices, literally cannot afford them, because of the small VA pension they draw.

To sum this up the construction worker had and did pay for his refill.

I was just trying to balance things out. HECK, that pizza stealer might have taken it from a poor person, or one that was VERY hungry.

I once heard an acquaintance talking to another acquaintance(Both were pizza delivery guys. I think one might have been illegal, and the other was actually filthy rich.) Anyway, the richer one spoke to the former about how people complain about slow service and "You KNOW they can just go someplace else and eat!". MAN, I about BLEW MY TOP! I let them know that that was untrue, classist, etc... Besides, it would be no excuse anyway. That very day I hadn't eaten lunch because I spent almost my whole lunch hour waiting, and had to spend the rest going back to work.

And SOMETHING extra must be paid, and some punishment given, to make up for possible past/future theft that won't be caught, and help reduce it. But this DOES on its face sound excessive.
