I know there's a programme on TV tonight about Tommy Cooper. I'll probably record it but was watching a clip of him on youtube and it creased me up, haven't laughed that hard for a while so thought I'd share it.

I did wonder though if it was only us Brits that would get it?

You guys do have a "different" sense of humor.
Sometimes it works, Monty Python, sometimes it doesn't, Benny Hill, (perhaps the most unfunny person on the planet).

I used to like Benny Hill when I was a kid.

Couldn't stand Monty Python, just looked stupid too me and not funny at all. I saw them on TV a few months back, John Cleese, Michael Palin and Eric Idle, promoting a tour or something and they were still not funny, just a bit pathetic.

Watched a bit of it ... looks like a Brit thing to me.

I used to watch Benny Hill and did like that, but didn't like Monty Python at all.

Here's him doing 20 minutes of stuff. Very funnie though he constantly re-cycled his jokes.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nepFgR-PI0A

My home town had a magic and costume shop in the sixties and 70's run by his twin brother. Exact duplicate of TC. I bought many a trick from there, he would always demonstrate them. He made all his famous brothers props and invented tricks.

Tommy Cooper was actually an accomplished magician but when he screwed up a trick it got laughs so he decided to make an act out of it. Did very well.

He died on stage at a Royal Variety Performance which was live on tv. Died doing what he loved.

I vaguely remember him as a kid, can't remember if I saw the programme where he died or not but I vaguely remember kids talking about it at school. I was only about 9 when it happended, but I've seen the clip of him collapsing on youtube.

I won't say I found everything he did was funny but that magic cloak really creased me up. I expect most people wouldn't get it. I remeber watching Lee Evans I think it was explaining about an interview he did on a german chat show. They asked him to do something funny so when he was talking he scratched his chest where his mic was so all you could hear was rustling. The Germans didn't get it.
