A lot of that stuff is already here, or CLOSE. Last I heard, they were still working on the flexible stuff though. The only thing I hate is they will probably declare THIS "a right", and it will be another HUGE expense!

One day, I woke up, in a city in LA county, and found they tore out ALL the old walk signals. They did NOT replace the screen(which would be expensive), or the box(which would have been just dumb), but the WHOLE unit(BEYOND MORONIC). Supposedly they did that because they hosted the olympics. Like foreigners don't understand red, and can't understand "DON'T" or "WALK"!

Another day, I woke up, and the highways were NO different. Same as ever! But NOW they had SIGNS saying that we could thank TARP for them! We pay all this money that is supposed to be for WORTHWHILE PROJECTS on ADVERTISING?

ANOTHER time, I heard of a new highschool that sounds like a giveaway program, healthclub, and SPA! They have a climbing wall, workout center, fancy pools, etc... and will give all the kids laptops, etc.... It is a pity that they are ALSO hurting education.

And here I am still holdng back on the idea of replacing a computer that has a short or something. I plan to replace it on wednesday and, AFTER I am happy with the new system, fix this one to keep for a backup. I am just afraid that the teardown is too involved, and I am going in blind, so I want to make sure all is moved off FIRST. But that is using money from MY pocket.

I've always wanted to be able to watch porn on my refrigerator. I can't wait for the future.

Seriously though this is astounding I can't imagine what the world will look like when I'm older. At only 18 years old I've seen some pretty awesome shit be developed. In just a single lifetime planes were invented, and then spaceships 40-50 years later. And the first iphone had something like 10x more powerful computing power than the spaceship, with the modern iphone being 240,000x more powerful than that. I'm gonna be an old geyser that lived in the days where we used paper... this is insane.

LOL - I remember party lines. I hate mobile phones, though. I will never get used to people thinking they have to be connected 24/7. It's not even a small wonder to me that people are going insane at the rate they are. We're natural beings and need natural surroundings. People never even walk outside barefoot anymore and that's very unhealthy for your body's electromagnetic field.

While a lot of that vid is pretty neat, it just looks way too connected for me to want to see it become reality.

TELL ME ABOUT IT! SERIOUSLY, does anyone know how to make android turn off and on at a specific time? I once had to learn how to get blackberry to do that because someone with alzheimers kept calling me one night/early morning to ask what time it was.

I got a cell phone PRIMARILY because my employment requires it, and they pretty much got rid of pay phones. AGAIN, we are STILL paying the tax for payphones!

Yep, putting hackers with zombie fetishes aside, this is overkill!

It is like getting the phone with weather forecast, etc included, (like the fridge, etc) in Australia.

Few would buy it as it is just another complex thing you have to learn.

If l spent everyday doing Ceramics, then maybe, but spending every day with an online business, no way!

If the tech, was, in a See Spot Run format, then probably, but not complex like the bathroom!

Maybe tech, is designed to add more pressure and stress to the population?

Have to keep the patients rolling in?

Eventhough doctors, crap on about sunlight being bad, etc, stress is the main key to all illness.

Probably explains why roof top, tile workers never get any skin cancers, while some stressed out office worker who barely exercises or eats right, is under the doctors knife!

And has too much tech,!

But this is making too much sence, so l'd better stop!

Sal is right, some of this is fine, but too much will just stress out the population and create new illness, (that is all genetic apparently) so the Phar, company's can continue to get their record profits!

Sorry about the rant, just read an article about this today, and all the positives in getting some decent sunlight. Apparently 4 million Aussies, out of about 25 million, have vitamin D deficiency; and we wonder why people get sick?

Listening to f***headed doctors is the main cause of illness, but it is all out of our hands or genetic!

            Ok, rant over!

OK. I've reread this thread and one of us is confused. lol

I was trying to point out that having a cell phone can be useless after a storm as many cell towers will be left non-functional.

Perhaps you were making the same point. I interpreted your post as saying that one should have a cell phone in case of a major storm.

I do possess a 5th grade comprehension level, so I'll cop to a total lack of understanding.

Yeah, a lot of people really don't know how cell phones work. They have limited range areas called cells, that use towers to connect phones in the area to the old fashioned phone system. So YEP, CELL PHONES USE LAND LINES. They are basically glorified wireless phones. They just have higher frequencies and a tweaked protocol, so the range is like 2 miles instead of 1000-3000 feet.

ALSO, for the most part, only one tower will be in range. The outer areas likely have overlap, which is where the triangulation idea comes in.

One thing about it though, Phone hardware at least USED to be heavy duty. Hopefully cell towers are also. And there ARE a lot of cheap ways to protect against lightning strikes.

Anyhow - now that Terra and Frank are all caught up, lol.........

If this scenario is to actually take place, they will need to build it on something other than a microwave grid.

With as many people freaking out over "global warming" as there are, I'm surprised they don't "get" that blanketing the earth with EMF might just cook the snot out of it. People are already showing very bad reaction to the amount of EMF we already have. People who live too near these towers are not doing well at all.

I take the time to travel outside of cellphone range as often as possible to let my body's own energy field clean out. Know what happens out there? People get into emergencies that they can't get themselves out of simply because they think if they have a cellphone with them it solves all problems. The result of all this "convenience" and microwaving on humans is already sickness and stupidity. I, for one, wouldn't want to see what humans would be like with a future as presented in this video. I don't think we'd be able to survive into that kind of world -- not unless they were able to find a non-toxic, non-heating energy to use for the technology.

    Hi Serryjw,

All I can say is, "WOW!" Thanks for sharing
    that find.

I have to say, though, that just watching that video
for the first time really scared me half to death, if you
    please.

And the thing is, I am not quite sure why I am so
    frighten.

But I think that a large part of my fright is that I
have not even began learning to use what technology
has already brought us/me, and trying to grasp the
vastness of all that newness, only serves to make my
    head spin. ;-)

Oh, well. Get use to it, alodieanne. Tomorrow is

Thanks once again, Serryjw. I really enjoyed watching
    and learning from that presentation.

Oh, well. Get use to it, alodieanne. Tomorrow is

Thanks once again, Serryjw. I really enjoyed watching
      and learning from that presentation.

Yep, jump in the deep end, like most here do, and then fantasise throwing your Laptop out of the window!

A recent example was, Firefox acting up, or the tab + icon disappearing!

After researching it, and trying half a dozen addons, as well as some dumb code that made things worse, l gave up and tried system restore, (W7).

After trying that, and it not working at all, l reversed it, and FF, was a rightoff!

At this point l was thinking, have all my bookmarks, gone too, but before l thinked the worse, l reinstalled the latest one again, hoping that it would remember my settings.

And thankfully it did, as well as fix the tab issue and some nightmare pink square around certain text issue.

And after fixing Norton for auto signing issues, it virtually purrs at the moment!

That is the most annoying thing about computers is the cliff edge option!

You think that you are deleting a link and before you know it the whole lot is gone!

Then you have to blow a day trying to figure out how to fix it!

But you do learn over time and it gets easier!

Maybe buy an Apple, they seem to have less of this sort of crap?

I think that if l had this crap on my mirror, fridge, etc, l would end up in a padded cell with an ipad!

The human mind can only take so much complexity before going ga-ga!

So l would avoid this like the plague!

        Hi Tagiscom,

        ***GRIN*** LOLOLOLOLO :-)))

You had me laughing so hard, it wasn't funny:

<<<Yep, jump in the deep end, like most here do, and then
fantasise throwing your Laptop out of the window!>>>

After all, you are very, very right. :-))

And as you pointed out: "That is the most
annoying thing about computers is the
        cliff edge option!"

I agree totally. Sometimes, I think I am
going to lose it, with these computer systems.

But, this is what we may have to put
up with from now on: we cannot live
with them; and, we cannot live without
them. Ah, ah, ah! :- )

        Not in this technological age.

Once again, thanks for making me laugh
so hard. It was good for my entire body. ;-)
