I have spent the last day trying to find something in my life that I truly care less about than the NFL draft. I thought that I came up with something that would qualify, it being, 'the sexual dimorphism of the fruit fly.'

Then I realized that I actually have more interest in that subject, than the NFL draft.

Time for a testosterone check, me thinks.

Cheers. - Frank

Manziel thought he was going to go a little higher, I think.

He has a lot of work ahead of him if he wants to be a successful NFL QB.

His mechanics stink . Will have to have a major overhaul.

The Browns drafted him. His career is over before it started.

(I can say this as a lifelong Browns fan.)

Interesting that Manziel was drafted #22 by the Browns. The Browns also drafted Weeden and Brady Quinn #22. Not sure if this is a bad sign or the old "third time is a charm"?

You know the old saying: Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. I'm prepared.

In all seriousness, though, I think Manziel is boom or bust. There will be no average. If he busts, it's no great change for the Browns.

Many QBs go to sorry teams - it can be like a death sentence. Is that their fault?

If a team can't run the ball, protect the passer and have a decent defense (to keep the team in most games), what hope is there for any young QB?

Many a QB has been sacrificed and blamed for the poor performance of a franchise.

I'd love to see Johnny play for years if he has what it takes and hopefully the Browns won't ruin his career.

My post about Josh Gordon is due to him probably being suspended for a full year...not good for maybe the best WR in the NFL last year and just another example of some bad luck for Browns fans.

The Haslam's are family friends of my family's.
My brother is best friends with Jimmy Haslam's brother, Bill . (They roomed 4 years together at Emory University and he is Governor of Tennessee now)

As much as I like the Haslam's , Iam afraid the Brown's are in for some heartache with Jimmy.

He has too much on his plate dealing with issues at Pilot. Going back and forth from Knoxville to Cleveland...........well I just cannot figure it out

I think most in Knoxville are thinking the same thing.

Basically, I think it was an all around dumb move for Jimmy. Not dumb in that the Cleveland franchise and the fans are not worth it, but dumb in that he has no business owning an NFL team. He doesn't have a clue

As much as I like him and his brother, he should just stick with peddling oil

Case in point : Jimmy Pics Manziel based upon a homeless persons advice

Reminds me of Elway and Reeves. It took Elway years - like 16 years - and the right coach/team to reach
                  his full potential.

Elway is as big an A-Hole as has ever played the game.

But, that's not why I'm here.

The Bungles have had 2 HOF quality QBs, Ken Anderson and Boomer Esiason.
Neither was a first round pick and neither came from a big time school.
I could look up the actual #s and schools, but I don't feel like it.

So a player using leverage to decide where he wants to play is being an epic A-hole, but the Bengals leading the NFL in arrests since 2000 is cool? How's that Pacman Jones teeshirt fitting these days?

And Maryland isn't a "big time" school?

          Chin up, Dan.

I admit, when the Bucs pick came up at # 7, and Manziel was still on the board,I was cringing. He does not fit in Tampa.

I do think he is a good fit for Cleveland, however. Hoyer should still be the starter,at least for the beginning of the season. That will give Johnny time to develop and hopefully mature a bit. The one drawback I see is the O-Line might have a tough time adjusting to his Favre-esque-gunslinger style of play.
Still, I predict he will eventually develop into a solid Quarterback.

            So was I
I was glad we took Evans and think the rest of our picks where pretty good also.
Now we have two 6'5" W.R. and a 6'5" tightend, all with good hands. Bring on the Dunkeneers
Plus our O line is shaping up to be a huge brick wall.

It's worse than that. The only sport That I watch is the NHL.

No felons, no hot-dogging after every score, players actually respect one another (even when they fight, which contrary to popular belief is very rare), the team handshake after each round of the playoffs (the classiest thing you'll ever witness in pro sports), history and tradition that can only be matched by baseball (at least until they added the DH), no PED scandals - shall I continue?

Oh, did I mention the two greatest sports photos, ever?

With QBs anyway (probably especially), there does not seem to be a high
correlation between Heisman winners and NFL success. Elway, Manning(s),
Marino, Bradshaw, Unitas,... were not Heisman winners.

  • Still can't believe the Browns used a first rounder on a, what, 26-year-old Weeden?

Falcons took Jake Matthews, which appears like a safe pick at first glance until you realize that we already have a highly paid former 1st round pick at LT
