That particular hamster reminded me of the voles shown on the local
news the other night. Parts of the Denver area are having vole problems.
The reporter described them as a cross between hamsters and mice.

I had no idea they were actually kinda cute.

JuJu (hamster) used to eat about anything that I'd eat. I'd sit on the floor and eat and give her a little plate with little pieces of each dish. She loved sitting and watching tv with me while we chowed. If she wanted more of something, she'd just come over to my plate. Polite - never walked on the plate or anything, just would go to the edge where what she wanted was and shed reach over and grab some and eat it. I really enjoyed those little fuzzies. They're smart as heck and very laid back.

In our back yard, (very small next to a wooded area) we have chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits. Every couple of days, I throw out a huge bag of unsalted peanuts....and for the next couple of hours, watch them all run into the yard, grab a peanut, and run to their secret place to eat it. Or the squirrels bury the nuts.

I guess they are pests, but we think they're adorable.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

Maybe I should try that. The squirrels and rabbits love doing things in my back yard. The chipmunks tend to love the mulch in the flower beds in my front yard. They are kind of like hamsters in that they find a nice little spot, create a little well in the mulch, and rest there. I don't know if I saw the chipmunks nesting or eating. Themulch is only an inch or so deep and the soil is clay, so they may not want to live there.

And YEAH, they are pests. If I wanted to eat the nuts, or the rabbits ate 5 times as much(They like my grass. ), I might care. But yeah, I just let them, the deer, and whatever, have fun.

          Lol, Steve!

The title of your thread lead me to think this was about politics...i.e.. the tea party platform.

The videos are adorable......makes me want another hamster and bunny, something I haven't had since I was a kid.

I run a hotel at the base of a mountain in the Colorado Rockies.
We are near a major creek and fields.

I play polite and sympathetic when customers complain about seeing
insects, bugs, or even the occasional mouse. Secretly, I find it amusing
that some people think those things are not supposed to exist here,
or I can completely control their wanderings.

Certain bugs, and certainly rodents, shouldn't be inside. They are often due to unclean or poorly maintained properties. The hamster and rabbit shown above are obviously pets. As for the squirrels, chipmunks, deer, and squirrels I spoke of? They are OUTSIDE! If I caught them inside, I would try to determine how they got in, move them out,and take care of the entry points.

I don't even have ants or roaches, and want to keep it that way. I haven't seen many spiders, and don't know how they would survive here.

WOW, I didn't think of the political tie. I saw a cute video with a rabbit, but lost it when I looked at the one with the hamster. IT started with what looked like a tea party set, so I found another bunny picture, and thought it would be funny to make it sound this way.

I did similar things before. But there was NO political motive.

I HATE CAPTCHA! It is often implemented in a STUPID way. THIS one currently APPEARS reasonable, but there WILL be a tradeoff! I agree with you there.
