Where are the moderators???

There is a huge influx of newbies posting their affiliate links in the forum - especially the off topic forum. Where are the moderators?

I've had threads deleted for posting about a free kindle book, when there wasn't even a link in the post (that's why I'll no longer post about any free kindles - and I've seen some great ones!).

Hope this isn't a sign of things to come since the WF has changed hands! If it is, the WF is definitely 'going down the drain'.

    Apparently the site was moved to a new host or something and the spam filters have gone a bit tits up. No idea why they're targeting this section. No one opens the crap as it's so painfully obvious it's spam.

    As for the moderators, I assume they sleep at times but seeing as I saw an advert looking for moderators by Freelance, I suspect going forward they'll have people working shifts to control it and I think they're trying to work out how to fix the spam filters.

    They did experiment with a captcha thingy too and it seemed to help but they turned it off and people didn't like the captcha anyway.

      I notified support and they got rid of most of them, it's just really hard to take when the WF has always had such high standards. Just hope they continue!

        I hate it too Jenny but I have been reading about it and I know they're trying to deal with it.

        Don't get annoyed with the forum, it's the spammers fault and it just goes to show what a tough job the mods had before.

          I know, it's just that when I came onto the forum this morning the first thing I see is about 6 threads that are obviously spam and I sort of 'went ballistic.'

          Thanks for letting me know that Freelance is trying to sort things out (I was blaming them).

            Moderators have to sleep too. There's been so much spam lately it just takes longer to get rid of it all.

            There's a thread in the main forum where you can announce your Kindle giveaways. That's the one place you can promote it without paying. Paul started the thread quite a while ago.

              That thread is only for promoting your own book, I checked it out. These free kindles aren't mine - they're just books I've found that happen to be free for a short time.

                Jenny, did you point out the Kindle books you were referencing weren't yours? Maybe a mod thought they were. Was it posted in the OT? Depending on the subject matter, it might not belong in the main forum.

                Or the Make Money Online forum is for posting free ebooks. You can even post your own as long as it isn't just a glorified ad for paid product and you don't require an opt-in.

                  Dennis, most of the threads I posted in the Off Topic forum. If they were relevant to a specific forum, then I posted them in that forum - like offline and success.

                  The only ones I've ever post in the WF are like 5 stars (or close to it). There are some awesome kindle books out there. Yesterday, for example, I found 5-5 star books (first time THAT ever happened!). I was rather happy :p

    Are you reporting them as you see them or just complaining about them? Moderators don't see every post, so reporting them gets them removed.
