An interesting new way to filter water...

The folks at MIT have come up with a new way to filter water. This method could be used for surviving in nature and could have other uses.

Basically, you take a newer branch from a pine tree, cut it to about 2 inches long and peel off the bark. Then you use it as a filter. It seems the branch is very good at filtering out bacteria in the water.

This technology might also be adapted to fitering well water and the branches are much cheaper than filters on the market now.

Check it out, particularly if you're into camping, hiking, etc.
