Hey guys

So recently i got hired as a sales trainer for a call centre then in a blink of the eye, i was asked to be sales manager, i accepted due to wage increase, but the owner of the call centre has been messing around and not paying anyone, i have worked over 8 weeks and not been paid,
Our call centre made 176 sales last month with only 7 sales people, so we are a very good team but, i want to buy over the call centre. Because we are not getting paid.

But if I do, i dont know what to sell, we are doing pension reviews right now but i dont want to do that.

Does anyone have any idea? or any contacts?

It would be very appreciated.

  • Since you are on the Warrior Forum, you could run a WSO and offer your services as a Call Centre.
Marketers are always looking for different ways to reach new customers with their products.
If you can offer a reasonable rate, (percentage of profits) etc, it could work.

You want to buy a business because it can't afford to pay its staff? Or did I misunderstand this?

I don't mean this impolitely, I promise, but I really think that if you're posting in a forum to ask what to sell in a call center, you should maybe think twice about buying one?

The two people I know who are involved with call centers, both of whom are very successful and very highly paid, are selling (i) financial services and (ii) advertising space in industrial journals and yearbooks.

      Nah you mistaken me,

The actual call centre is earning but the owner is not paying us,(the staff)
As far as asking advice is that a bad thing? isnt information power? And as WF is the meeting place of some of the Internet greatest minds why not ask here.
      You understand?

Why would you stay somewhere you're not getting paid at? I wouldn't have remained longer than 1 week past not getting paid. You are being taken advantage of, and you don't know the reason.

176 sales of what, exactly? What price point? How much does the company keep/what rate is being charged? Is this even profitable?

My advice is to leave now and move on.

I hear what your saying mate, believe me, i have thought about it many times but i feel responsible for the staff. I dont want to leave them in the dark.

As far as the leads go, the 176 should of earned us £21,212 but the owner keeps making excuses that hes got ripped off from who he was supplying the leads too.
I think its bull shit personally.

You are NOT responsible for the staff. You are responsible for yourself.

This is the problem of taking a job--you get sucked into crap that is not your problem. It's happened to me.

        Seriously, get out of there.

If you want to start your own call center, fine; and go ahead and take his unpaid employees and start afresh. But don't buy this turkey. You'll inherit too much garbage. Imagine being attached to the current owner for all time. Because that'll be what happens.

I agree with Jason. Also buying a call centre just because you think that the current boss is ripping you off is a pretty bad reason. There's a massive difference between being a call centre manager and an owner. If you know nothing about ownership, then it's the worst possible idea. I know this for a fact as I have managed numerous call centres and I even saw some of what the owners had to contend with and there's no way I would ever buy or set up a call centre.

Some sort of anti-nuisance-call device might prove popular - especially if your sales people were really persistent.
