I can't believe this comedy genius has died aged only 56. Rik Mayall and the Comic Strip Presents gang were a comedy staple in my house growing up.

    Yes sad news. It doesn't surprise me how many celebrities have tweeted etc about Rik since he died yesterday and how popular he really was. Really was one of a kind.

    I grew up with the Young Ones when I was at primary school, and later enjoyed Bottom. This was one of my favourite Bottom scenes.

    The Young Ones was breakthrough comedy at the time. Bottom was good too, but I think his finest work was as Alan B'Stard in The New Statesman.
