A friend of mine has asked me to sell her artwork online.

Just wondering, if any of you Warriors would be kind enough to take a look at some of her pictures and give me an idea what I should be charging.

I already have an Etsy account and a website in the making. However, I have no idea how much to charge.

I wouldn't pay anything for that stuff, but that's just me. You need somebody who knows about art to help you.

    Hello,

I think your question would be better answered on a forum like the deviantART Forum or other art related forums.

I do like abstracts and some weird stuff, and I do sell abstract art images, but to be honest only one of those pictures caught my eye. The one that did catch my eye I have seen similar hanging in retirement homes and hotels. Unfortunately for an artist that is selling individual pieces, the hotel and retirement home art buyers usually purchase mass produced reproductions at really good prices.

So if you are trying to sell individual art pieces to the consumer market and collectors usually the price will depend greatly on how well known the artist is, the art medium itself, the size of the pieces, and the target market....and of course quality, uniqueness, and demand.

I am sorry I can't give you an estimated retail price or be of more help.

    Best of luck!

    Cheers

I am a professional artist and I run artquestionsanswered.com. For a new artist you would be safe selling them for $100 to $200. I doubt you could get more than that considering the style. What sizes are the paintings? I didn't see a size listed.

I think the smallest ones are 40x50cm's. The larger ones are 100cm and larger. She has sold paintings in the past to private collectors for around 1000 Euro.

I have no idea on the price but you can get a $10 classified ad listing on eBay that runs for 30 days. Almost unlimited pics and, unlike their regular listings, you can include links to other sites.

I'm not talking regional classifieds. These are posted alongside regular auction listings. Think of it as a paid traffic (to her site) source. Money well spent.

Thanks travelinguy. I know how to get eyeballs on the pictures. My problem is, I really don't for which price to sell them for.

Bravo, why not let the artist decide the price for you.

There is a lot of ways to gauge price.

You can look at ebay auctions, and see what similar go for.

You can go to a local art gallery with a piece or two, and ask them how much they might charge for such a painting.

You can try selling a piece or two on ebay via a no reserve auction, and see what happens.

You can have the paintings professionally appraised.

Pick one or two, and go from there.

Too many factors involved in pricing art.
Here is a page by an artist and it shows some of the art and a page with the price list.
