Nice video. I thought to myself he'd be well dead by now as I know that programmes quite old but it seems he's still alive at 105. Who said the good always die young?

I was not going to watch that! I was going to put it further down the thread so Claude would thank me for posting it.

Anyway, I did in the end and it was touching. I wonder how he did it?

Fun fact! The presenter was Esther Rantzen. She ran a highly popular light hearted consumer affairs satirical show for a number of years called "Thats Life". (and this is from it which suprises me) The viewing figures were huge. She has large set of nashers so people would send letters into the show about their consumer horror stories and just address it to "The Teeth at the BBC" They always got there!

Even I was "got" by this one. I wanted to see more of it, though. I would have liked to been inside his head when he stood and saw all those people he saved. Hopefully, there are many who would like to honor him by being like him. If the shtf, we're gonna need his type -- lots and lots of his type.

I didn't cry, but I did look him up, and am genuinely impressed by him and what he did. There is a lot more to the story than you know, and that guy had balls of steel to pull off the feats he did.

    Salute!

      Claude,
Thank you for this touching reminder about what is really important in life. Relationships, not money. By the way, I was born in 1971 in Wooster, Ohio. Still have family I visit there. Small world.

Wow - talk about a life well lived!

I don't know if both video images were from the same show - but that is not a single video. The people who stand up are not the same audience as those who were seated in the beginning.

I first heard about Mr. Winton on 60 Minutes a few months ago. I didn't watch this video because if it is like the 60 Minutes one I'll never get through it without bawling.

But I remember one of his qualities was persistence. He wasn't getting what he needed from the British Government and Germany, so he forged up his own documents to speed up getting the kids out. Very creative and resourceful! Thanks for this thread.
