I mentioned to a friend tonight how much fun Sunil's "Punk by Numbers" album was, and he hit me with a statement I never thought I'd hear: "This year's best punk album will be the new one with Ice-T."

Huh?

Not safe for work, don't listen to it if you are averse to profanity, etc. Otherwise, if you like punk, this remake of the classic by "Suicidal Tendencies" will be amusing.

Is this suitable for first thing on a Monday morning in the office? I know you said not at work but my place of work isn't the standard office.

There's a lady here who nearly faints when she hears swearing, as it is she's unconscious most of the day with me here.

I don't want to be responsible for her complete capitulation into a delirious and probably permanently delirious state.

It's bad enough she just opened her diary and I'd written poo in big letters across the entire Monday and Tuesday of this week and that's not even a swear word.

Sod it, I want to see what happens, I'm playing it.

EDIT. She's on her back, one legs twitching and we've got a fan over her. John's gone to get a bucket of water.

[chuckle] If she's married, she just might mention how it reminds her of her husband.

I assume you mean the being on her back with one leg twitching bit?

      Most likely.

Ummmm.... No. If that happens from this song, call a veterinarian. It's the only humane response.

Sorry, I'm so smutty at times.

The vet put her to sleep 10 minutes ago. It was peaceful and we gave her her favourite biscuit as it happened.

Ice-T and then a biscuit. Well, that's not the usual order, but what the hell.

You could have just had her Institutionalized...

Piffle. That ("Institutionalized") is the name of the original tune. Nothing especially sinister in that reference.

I have been much darker than that here... Not often, granted, but it happens.

Hilarious! I'll have to have my gf listen to that one one. She'll love it. Here's another one from that album where they do their version of Jay Z's 99 Problems.

Wow, the OP brings back some memories for me. I remember seeing Ice-T in concert about 20 years ago and after he did some of his rap songs, he said was a big fan of rock and roll and wanted to play a "rock" song that he had written.

While most of the audience was cool with it, there were a few folks who booed and after the song Ice-T called them out and said, "Look, if you only listen to and appreciate only one type of music then you really don't know what music is all about. Fine if you don't like rock music, but it's disrespectful to boo. If you don't like it, go out to the lobby."

    Good for Ice-T.

Watched Ice T do an interview once where he was asked who the greatest rapper in the world was. Without missing a beat he said "I am motherf***er."

Lol. There's some funny stories there. I liked this one about the David Grey's Babylon: "While interviewing former prisoners, German musicologist Christian Gruny played this song for a Guantanamo inmate, who immediately burst into uncontrollable sobs." I think I would give up any and all info if they kept playing that song.

You may be right about the Ice T song also. I think it's funny but beyond that I probably wouldn't listen to it again unless to play it for my gf like I said for a laugh. A few times in a row and I may need a straight jacket. haha

Speaking of punk rock and going nutts. I had my art studio in Oakland right next to a place called the Oakland Opera House. They didn't play opera there, or even country music. Mostly punk. They seemed to have this one band play there weekly and their songs basically sounded like a jackhammer with a guy screeming for two minutes. Then they would stop and the guy would say in a way reminiscent of Elvis "Thank you very much". Then he would say "this next number is called ...." Then proceed to play a number that was exactly like the last one. Hilarious. I was really LOL. However, it eventually was one of the reasons I decided to leave that space. The fans didn't leave the area in very good shape also, pissing in our doorway, throwing up in the curb and leaving garbage all over.
