The Beatles or The Stones? A question as old as time ....?

For me, Beatles, but neither one is my favorite group of all time. Groups I like better than the Beatles.

    Sparks
    Renaissance
    ELO

Just to name a few. In fact, the Beatles have done a number of works that had me scratching my head wondering what they were smoking at the time, such as the White Album which had maybe 2 or 3 songs on it that I liked.

If you want to go by number 1's and records sold, I don't think it's a contest. The Beatles have had more number 1's than just about anybody with the exception of I think Elvis. Not 100% sure on that. I'd have to do some research as so much music has come out since the Beatles disbanded in 1970.

But yeah, if it's a choice between the two groups, Beatles for me all the way.

Why choose? I love them both and listen to them both.

The Who, The Yardbirds and The Kinks were/are far more interesting than either.

Me too. To me, the Beatles had a lot more great songs. Their albums were filled with great songs. I appreciate the Stones a lot more now than I did when I was younger, but I like the Who better.

For me I have always been more of a Beatles fan.

But when it comes to enjoying music it is always a matter of personal taste, completely subjective. No need to choose.

    Beethoven or Mozart ???

Mozart for me, Beethoven was depressing. I found a lot of his music to be suitable for funerals. Don't get me wrong, I love Beethoven when I'm in the mood for that stuff. Mozart for me is just a more all around fun loving party guy. Of course he also was bonkers as a Bellevue inmate, but still a fun guy.

        The Beatles, for me.

They're both pretty much historical, for me (yes, I know some of them are still alive now, and one or two are even still performing a bit), but I inherited plenty of Beatles CD's and even some vinyl records, while I've actually never - knowingly - heard the Rolling Stones at all.

I spent my high school years spinning way more vinyl by the Beatles than the Stones.

When cd's came along, the Beatles were the ones I upgraded, not the Stones.

Having said that, I think Sympathy for the Devil, Satisfaction and You Can't Always Get What You Want (among a few others) are at least as good as anything the Beatles did, if not a little better.

If I had to pick between the two of them it would be the Beatles. I grew up listening to more of their songs than the stones, so I've had more happy memories anchored into my nervous system.

Besides, one of their songs, "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" has some really crazy memories for me.

Personally, I think The Rolling Stones.

The Beatles and Stones were both innovative and their music has stood the test of time, but lets not forget there were and are numerous other class acts out there. It's a matter of personal taste, although quality music should always be appreciated - no matter if you're not that keen on the artist.

I'm one of those weird people who never liked the Stones much. There are only 3-4 songs of theirs I'll listen to if it comes on the radio, otherwise I change the station.

Neither. But if I had to choose, Beatles.

A better question is: Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin?

I think Prince is a better musician, but I listened to MJ more frequently.

Tough choice... Riffle or Whitacre - Riffle or Whitacre - Riffle or Whitacre - Riffle or Whitacre. I'll get back to you on this.

                  I really like that one.

I'm a fan of "Big and Rich," but the whole "Cowboy Troy" rap gimmick seems so fake. This is the real thing.

BTW... Has anyone ever had more than 60 #1 hits?

George Strait has that many, and recently sold out the biggest indoor concert ever in North America. Over 104,000 people.

He's also the only artist to have a top 10 hit every year for 30 years straight (if you'll pardon the pun).
