Need Video Screen Capture For Win 7 64 Bit Cheap

Okay, here's my situation. I have Camtasia on this PC but it's 32 bit and my other PC where I do my music production is 64 bit.

I have enrolled in a music production class just to brush up on my skills. Part of the requirements of the class is to submit videos of our work in our DAWs.

Is there a free program (it doesn't have to be fancy) that I can download that I can start up to record my actions while working in Cubase 7 recording both the video and audio?

It needs to be easy on resources because Cubase 7 is a hog.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks.

David, I have taken a look at it and it appears like it can do the job.

What do you use it on and what have your experiences been with it as far as reliability, ease of use and resource management?

It's been a few years since I've needed to use it, so I don't recall much, but I do know that I had used it on a seriously under-powered machine, and it did just fine. At most, I had to play with the frame rate a bit to balance the machine's capacity with functionality. It sounds like your machine is far more powerful; I wouldn't worry.

My personal preference is to record audio (voice) and video separately, and splice them together later, but that's just me. CamStudio does allow them to be recorded simultaneously; I just don't have much experience with doing that.

Also, you can move your capture area around while you record, but I just grab a large, fixed area and crop/zoom after the fact. In other words, I try not to worry too much about final presentation while the "camera" is rolling.

Have you checked with Techsmith to see if they'll let you have the 64-bit version of Camtasia on your other PC? A lot of companies would.

There this: Screenr | Instant screencasts: Just click record

I don't use it, but there's nothing to install so I think it runs off their server. Maybe that would be user "resource friendly" for you.

Thanks Dennis but it's limited to 5 minutes for each use and my security settings in my Firewall won't let it run.

PS - I seriously doubt Techsmith is going to give me a 64 bit version of Camtasia for free.

** EDIT ** There is no 64 bit version of Camtasia.

A 32 bit program should work on a 64 bit machine. My MS Office 2013 is 32 bit but Windows is 64 bit.

Can you install Camtasia on the 64 bit machine?

If I can find my original download, probably. I'm not exactly sure where it is. Granted, this machine is a Pentium 4 and my other is a Core 3, but Camtasia is a real memory hog on this thing. I just wonder how well it will run even on a Core 3 with Cubase running which is also a memory hog. I'd prefer something that wasn't as memory intensive if possible.

That's a good point. I run 32-bit software and 64-bit software on this computer, including Camtasia. Both seem to work fine. Steve, if you can't find your download try contacting tech support, they may be able to verify your license and send you a download link for the version you paid for.

I use camtasia .... it runs perfectly fine on 64 bit.
Nothing special needs to be done whatsoever to get it to work.
