You won't believe me about Kindle

Last week I read a two-year-old article about a woman who lost all her Kindle books when her account was cancelled by Amazon.

You don't own your Kindle books, Amazon reminds customer - NBC News

I thought, OK, then why doesn't Amazon sell books as a subscription like the music industry does with Spotify? Like this:

Will publishing take another hit? Amazon reportedly testing “Kindle Unlimited” - Salon.com

Was Bezos listening to my thoughts?? Should I wear a tinfoil hat?

In reality, this has been a rumor for a few months, and there are already a couple of book subscription services out there. Would you pay $9.99 a month for the availability of thousands of books?

Personally, I would pay a monthly fee of 10 bucks for unlimited reading. I average 2 or 3 books a week and my Kindle prices range from $1.99 to over 10 bucks, depending on the author and publication date.

I didn't realize the terms of these books though. I don't mind so much because I rarely read a book more than once - but I would prefer the choice to give my books away if I so choose.

I like the conversion idea I'll do that with the books I DO want to keep.

I read 4-5 books week and there are maybe 4 books that I've ever read a second time. I'd pay for unlimited but I expect that will end up like some of the "library" type deals - the best authors won't participate.

If the fee were $10/month I'd definitely join just to try out new (to me) authors.

I move my Kindle books to cloud storage the moment I finish them. I was reluctant to go with Kindle for a long time and now carry it with me everywhere.

If a company reneges on a digital item I've bought, I just go grab a copy of it from Piratebay.
