Spiders are a nuisance, but perhaps using a lighter and a can of spray paint was going a bit far.

The man, who was renting the property in west Seattle, was determined to kill the spider which he spotted in a laundry room

When the spider started climbing the wall the man, who has not been named, first doused it with spray paint before flicking the lighter.

The results were spectacular as the laundry room was engulfed in flames.

Such was the ferocity of the blaze that firemen worked from a distance, partly in case there was ammunition in the property

Reminds me of younger days. When I was in the Navy I was stationed in Guam for a couple of years. I had my own apartment in town and there were cockroaches the size of Godzilla (or so it seemed).

On more than one occasion - during a drunken stupor with friends - we'd go back to my place from the e-club to find a few of those things crawling up the wall. To get rid of them we'd pull out the can of Lysol and a lighter and burn them right off the wall (the walls were cinder block). But the damn things would fly off the wall - in flames - and land on the rug. We'd then - laughing up a storm - would chase them down and stomp them out.

The next morning was always a treat, cleaning up burned, squashed Godzilla sized cockroaches

That's hilarious. I wonder if he's being sued for the over $20K damages that his ill advised battle with a spider cost.

Probably. Then he's got to convince another landlord to take him on as a tenant.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

People with D.A. degrees from the University of Stupid must work in the media.

Massive coverage of "another Malayasian plane crash" and on CNN the dude asks the "correspondent" ....

"Do they know what caused this plane to crash"

        and the correspondent says....

"They know something brought this plane down"

And thus - breaking news is broken.

  • Would be even funnier if the spider came crawling out from underneath the rubble.

It's the one's with 6 feet you have to worry about. Arachnid amputees can be very aggressive if you set fire to them with a spray can, or shoot them for that matter. I hear Oscar Pistorius keeps one as a pet.

Who are "they"? Do we know them? Are they spreading spiders or counting them?

Kay, I think that "they" are the ones your kids meant when you asked them which one of you did that and the kids both answer "not me." Same ones.

You tried your best Claude, you can do no more. Some women are merciless.

When she dangles you in the sack over the hot coals you make such a fuss carrying on and squirming like that. Ive seen the video series. Paid good money for them too. Every time she says "Here comes the extra half gallon of lighter fluid" you always fall for it. It's just water!

Even if the house wouldn't have caught on fire, who the heck wants random blotches of spray paint on the wall? This is a case of compound stupidity.
