Personally think it might be too big. The 5s for me is the perfect size.

Yep, trying to compete with the Galaxy, it seems that Apples days of market dominance are over!

Unless another genius, takes the reins?

Right. Over $7B last quarter. Who else was remotely close to that?

It's said that Tim Cook is his own kind of genius.

P.S. Unless you have the peepers of a 20-something, the current iPhone is just too small.

Well, they make quite a bit more than just smartphones but...

The numbers may not seem all that alarming to most people since Samsung still makes huge money, but the profit of $7.11 billion, 7.2 trillion won, for the quarter was nowhere near the 9.53 trillion won posted for the second quarter of last year.

On the contrary. With iPhone 6 and its two different sizes, the only weakness they really had (the lack of a large screen smartphone to compete with the Samsungs) has been wiped out with a single stroke. Now they truly will take over. Samsung are already dead and they know it, hence all the ads poking fun at insignificant iPhone limitations.

        You must be joking, eh?

Samsung is not going anywhere anytime soon...

Samsung has been controlling the smartphone market for many years...

While increasing market saturation and fierce competition in the smartphone space may be a concern, the latest market share stats from IDC show no evidence of Samsung's global lead evaporating anytime soon. Numbers published for the first quarter of the year show the Korean electronics giant with a clear lead over its biggest rivals, having shipped 85 million devices in the first three months of 2014.

SAMSUNG SHIPPED MORE PHONES THAN ITS TOP FOUR RIVALS PUT TOGETHER.

The stats show that Samsung shipped more smartphones than Apple (43.7m), Huawei (13.7m), Lenovo (12.9m) and LG (12.3m) combined, though that's not counting the 113.9 shipments by manufacturers grouped into the "other" category. Although Samsung's volume of shipments increased significantly year-on-year (up from 69.7 million in Q1 2013), its market share fell slightly from 31.9 percent to 30.2 percent.

Remember this news from last year at this time...

Apple fans on Monday poured cold water on recent research that showed Samsung had stolen Apple's crown as the world's most profitable mobile handset vendor.

Research firm Strategy Analytics said on Friday that Samsung's operating profit for its handset division stood at $5.2 billion in the second quarter, topping Apple's estimated iPhone profit of $4.6 billion. This marked the first time the Korean firm has overtaken its U.S. rival.

Samsung Is More Profitable Than Apple (Statista)
For the second consecutive quarter, Samsung has turned a higher total net income than Apple has. The Korean manufacturing giant just edged out Apple with $7.6 billion in net income to Apple's $7.5 billion.

Apple had long held the position as the most profitable company in the world. And even up until the first quarter of 2013, Apple's net income level was nearly double that of Samsung.

Samsung Is Now A More Profitable Company Than Apple - Business Insider
I am no brand fanboy by any stretch of the imagination but Samsung is one of the top electronics companies in the world, they make decent stuff and they sell it at a relatively low price, and they are not going anywhere anytime soon. I managed several consumer electronics stores in my previous life so I have seen my share of good and bad consumer electronics manufactures, distributors and products.

Of course Apple is the darling for many...but to be honest I am using the same smartphone I purchased many moons ago and it's an LG.

When someone says, " Is that a tablet in your pocket or are you just glad to see me," then you know they have gone too far (too big).

I don't like the idea about iPhone getting bigger in size each year. Or could be that I don't like smartphones in bigger sizes too big for pockets and wallets/purses to carry them with. On the other hand tablets are meant to be bigger in sizes as they are not cellular so it's ok to have a them in bigger sizes than smartphones however when cell phones are going bigger than I think it's very difficult to carry them along with.
