Just heard on the news an Air Algerie plane has vanished from radar.

Not quite sure what to make of this any more.

There was another plane crash in Taiwan a few days ago. This is not a good week for air travel and I am getting a bit rattled. My mother is flying tomorrow and myself and my family next week.

Do not get between a wombat and a chocolate biscuit; you will regret it dearly!

The first plane was 370 and the Algerian plane is 72, so not all had 17 but all did have the number 7.

Ironic your username is Concorde too!

I can't quite get my head around this.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

"The pilot had contacted Niger's control tower in Niamey to change course because of a storm, officials say."

Not a good time to fly ...

        Guys;

How many thousands of flights go out every day? How many crash...from any cause? Almost zero.

It's still safer to fly than to drink a glass of water.

Yes, true ... and a good point.

          But this can change. Maybe?

Flying's gradually but consistently becoming less pleasant, less convenient, far more time-consuming, and higher-risk than it was when I first started flying - and that's not all that long ago.

But still statistically much safer than getting into a car, granted. For now.

You are right of course Claude. I'm just concerned the expression 'going down like fly's' is actually being applied to planes. That's new to me.

I always marvelled how a big tin can stayed up in the air and how amazing it was. Now, I'm a tad spooked. I appreciate it's a less likely death than having a poo or a glass of water, but for someone flying or whose family is, one may rightly be a touch worried.

Beer. Safer than flying or water. Onwards folks.

I'll take my chances drinking water.
