I'm tired of getting this ******* shit in my email trying to sell me shit.
I'm not buying anything, nor do I want to. Stop sending me them.

Before this site was sold, I never gotten 1 upsell.
Now I'm getting like 2 or 3 a week.

I assume you are referring to the Warrior forum emails! If that's the case simply ignore them or unsubscribe, it really is that simple.

I was a member of this site for about a year. I never gotten any upsell until a couple weeks after this site was sold.
Then all of a sudden, I get these email with trying to sell me something.

I wonder, how many people quit this site because of this?

Arrrrhhh, that isn't too bad, its the constant, "l tried to phone you today", (which they def, didn't) or "Please open this, or your life will end" BS, that really P**** me off!

Occasionally l tried to open them, and it was just the usual Clickbank BS.

Usually, "Make money at home", or an ex-stripper or midget selling some press 3 buttons, crap!

No quicker way to motivate me to press the delete button!

If getting marketing emails from the WF gets people to quit, then they shouldn't be in I.M in the first place. If you have unsubscribed from email in the past, what makes it so hard to unsubscribe from WF emails?

I think you are making a big deal out of nothing. Everytime you read something on the WF, someone is selling you something, in the form of signature exposure or expertise in a certain field.

If you have problems with people trying to sell to you, then you have no business in a marketing forum. I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't understand what the big deal is. You don't want the WF trying to sell you anything, but you are selling others from your signature :/

That's all I did. First I read them. then decided I wasn't interested in what they said so I ignored them. From there I simply unsubscribed and changed the setting in my user CP.
        Seemed pretty simple to me.
The owners of this forum have every right to market to the members. I figured I also have a right not to receive those emails if I didn't want them.

Except, sending daily blanket emails isn't really marketing - or at least, not good marketing. Frankly, I expect better from "The #1 Internet Marketing Forum".

For a start, the emails are clearly not targeted. In the last few days I've been offered my own custom T-Shirt-printing business, a CPA product and an autopilot site-builder. I haven't purchased any similar products to suggest I might be interested in these offers.

It's as if the owners are salivating at the prospect of a 750,000+ subscriber list and are using this shotgun approach in their eagerness to get at them all straight away. And as marketers ourselves, we're well aware of the perils that technique presents, with email/ad blindness being among the least damaging.

Most experienced email marketers would emphasize the importance of building a relationship with one's subscribers before blitzing them with offers. If the new owners are in this for the long-term, I would have thought that this subscriber relationship was one worth cultivating.

The weekly newsletter might have been a good platform both to foster a relationship and to present selected offers, but that seems to have stopped after a couple of issues.

If there are going to be daily offers, I'd suggest they'd be more effective, and better received, if they were segmented and targeted at actual buyers - that should become easier in time with the new Warrior Payments system. Otherwise the owners risk appearing impatient to turn over a quick buck at the expense of long-term growth.

Don't forget - this is a forum of marketers.

No one said it was good marketing. What I said is it's easy to get rid of. Unsubscribe. I would prefer not to get the Daily Deals, but stay on the "news" email. I don't really expect that they will separate news from their attempt at email marketing though.

I just never saw much point in dedicating a whole rant thread to not liking the email you're receiving. It's pretty basic. If you are subscribed ... unsubscribe. If that doesn't work, mark it as spam. Simple.

Great point Frank. Freelancer could data mine the database in a lot of ways to make it much more targeted.

I have unsubscribed from receiving email from admin., so will no longer receive news announcements. I did so as I'm not interested in the daily deals I've received thus far. Like Frank said, they are not targeted.

I'd like to see admin add "receive daily deal" emails to our user cp. We would then have the option to opt out, yet still be able to receive news from admin.

    Just my 2 cents.

Although I unsubscribed from receiving email from admin (via user cp), I'm still receiving the daily deals.

ETA: I unsubscribed from the link in the daily deal email itself. Will now recheck "receive email from admin" to see if I still get these, as I'm still interested in news announcements from admin regarding the WF.

The only option I see is to uncheck Receive Email from Administrators.

Everything, except for the offers, is posted in the News section, so you really don't need to get email from the administrators if you don't want it.

        Warrior Forum News

Your choice, really. They most certainly won't be stopping their marketing emails so either opt in or opt out.

That's pure fiction. The majority of unsubscribes I do work. The only ones that don't work are the spammers who harvested my email from who knows where.

I don't think Freelancer is going to jeopardize their newly acquired asset (WF). Would you fork out over 3 million for a website just to avoid playing by the rules?

Like Suzanne mentioned in the post above - it's the spammers that harvest emails.

And there lies your problem, not that it should be a problem when you look at some of the crap going on in this world but unfortunately they have one list of members and they haven't segmented it yet into site updates and what some people perceive as spam.

Personally I find it mildly annoying and usually delete them, with the amount of shinyitis here though, I suspect they're making good bank on it.

Question is, would you send these offers out if you had a list like they have? Think carefully about that.

A list of 750,000 at 5% is 37,500. If that 37,500 brought in just $10 each, they make $375,000 per email. Seeing as you signed up to the site which no doubt includes receiving emails from them, therefore not actually spam, I suspect you would do it, especially when you only have to send out just over 10 emails to recoup the cost of the website.

Business. It's a dirty game but profitable and fun.

Actually, I think you just want to piss and moan. I gave you the link to the News section, where all updates without spam are posted religiously since the new owners took over. There is NO email from WF now that doesn't contain promotions. End of Story.

If the emails are coming from the address you have listed in your UserCP, then change it. The fact is, there have been very few "Admin Update" emails. You won't miss much. I started a separate Gmail address years ago that I use specifically for signing up for things. I go in a few times a year and clean it out. This way I don't clog up my regular emails.

But frankly, if I owned this board I would email it daily.

              Hi,

It tickles me that people keep quoting this 750,000 members thing (no offence Richard) that gets used in press releases and other sales pitches for the forum as if there are actually 750,000 unique, participating members here. I did some research and apparently there's actually less than ten of us, all going wild with our multiple personality disorders

It's like saying that facebook has 9 billion members. If you have any familiarity with any typical IM software and 'guerrilla marketing' techniques you'll know there's probably only about 8 billion in reality

As for the email crap, well I found that the unsubscribe button worked for me. From one perspective it could be considered a waste of time for the OP to come here and make a rant thread about it, but I guess it's only as pointless as making multiple posts trying to convince the OP that his actions were pointless.

Sometimes, when something has really annoyed you, it's just nice to type your rage into teh internets and let those words echo around the digital universe, no matter how pointless an exercise it seems. Many a meme has been created from such pointless behaviour when the rant comes out all funny and goes on to provide a hearty chuckle for 9 billion facebook users....
