Well, I don't particularly consider myself to be a starry-eyed media lemming. I could care less if the news stories called him Jesus Christ.

I think he's a tragedy really. Another child star who lived a screwed up life, gaining fame and fortune, but never able to find happiness. Building up all sorts of psychological coping mechanisms that turned into clinical issues - but because of his status and money, was never able to be diagnosed and treated.

I see it for what it really is - and his fame and money don't change a damn thing. None of that matters now does it.

I have looked at the two accusers, considered their possible motives and their backgrounds (in particular, the second accuser), then also considered the court ruling and because of those things, I do not believe that he did it.

The point that I was driving at is that you have convicted him in your mind and on this thread, but you have no basis except accusations and probably because he is an abnormal person.

Actually, not to nitpick, but you see it for what the media has told you it is. The only way you could know how it REALLY is would be if you were present.

You may not be "star struck" but you seem to have swallowed what the news and "questionable" accusers have said lock, stock and barrel.

As for me, I am of 2 schools of thought on his passing.

- IF he was indeed a child molester, he won't be doing it any more, and he will have to atone to his maker.

- The fact that he is only 5 years older than I am means that I have basically watched and followed his career since a very young age. The music he put out as part of the J5 has particular meaning in my life. During the early 80's and Thriller, I was in the service and his music was just everywhere. You could not go a day without hearing something by him. That also has some meaning to me.

Like him or not you can't deny his impact on pop music and music in general, nor the amount of good he's done via charities over the years.

Just my thoughts.

We're probably a lot closer in thinking than further apart.

Even though I really was derogatory, I do pity a person whose life was so filled with dysfunction and personal tragedy. He certainly did make his mark on pop music (and culture) - but paid a terrible price for it all along in the form of untreated mental issues (leaving out the kiddie sex stuff entirely).

I agree, whatever he's done, he must answer for now.

Off topic, but just cause someone was found not guilty of a crime doesn't mean they are innocent. That's why people are found "not guilty" instead of "innocent". Guilty people get off all the time, especially celebrities. Obviously I don't know if he did or didn't. He admitted to sleeping in the bed with kids but said it was innocent. And I'm not a celebrity obsessor anyway. Surprising, yes. But I can't say I'm grieving. I reserve that for people I know in real life and have a real connection with. Otherwise I'd be sad all day, every day.

Good for you. He meant a great deal to his fans though and he had many of those. As I muttered before only Elvis and the Beatles have sold more records.

He was a genius. He made Billie Jean when he was 14 years old. There was no fancy computer gadgets back then to make the beats. A true icon - RIP MJ.

He may be innocent but being found not guilty isn't the reason why. That means nothing. It just means a jury of 12 believed there wasn't enough evidence to convict. OJ Simpson was also found not guilty and everyone knows he did it. Innocent people have been found guilty and guilty people have been found not guilty.

Just when you thought there was nothing left to learn about Michael Jackson, there comes a magazine article that unearths a nugget that Martin Bashir somehow missed in eight months of filming the King of Pop for his TV documentary. According to an article in the new issue of Vanity Fair, Jackson hired a West African shaman three years ago to put a voodoo curse on Steven Spielberg, David Geffen, and 23 other enemies that was supposed to kill them within a week.



The Malian witch doctor, named Baba, reportedly slaughtered 42 cows and had Jackson bathe in sheep's blood to seal the hex. Jackson paid Baba $150,000 for his services, which apparently should have come with a money-back guarantee. For his part, Spielberg says he doesn't know what Jackson has against him; the director and the singer have rarely met. ''This is bizarre, but what else is new?,'' a Spielberg spokesman told the New York Daily News.
The Vanity Fair article also corroborates earlier reports of other Jackson oddities. For instance, it reports that the tip of Jackson's nose really is a prosthesis; without it, says one person who's seen the fake schnozz, he would look like ''a mummy with two nostril holes.'' Also, as revealed in earlier reports, the court papers from onetime business manager Myung Ho Lee's current breach-of-contract suit indicate that Jackson spends lavishly, beyond his means, and owes hundreds of millions of dollars in debt, mostly to his label, Sony, which may foreclose on Jackson's share of the Beatles' song rights (half-owned by Sony) in order to collect. And a member of the Los Angeles district attorney's office tells Vanity Fair that Jackson paid for the silence of not one but at least 10 pre-pubescent boys, whom Jackson would replace annually, à la Menudo, ''as soon as they started sprouting whiskers.'' Contacted by the Daily News, Jackson's camp declined to comment on the story.

Funny how not one person that is CERTAIN MJ was a child molester wants to discuss the accusers or their backgrounds or how these cases turned out. Why is that? By the way, the first accuser's Mother claimed that MJ was NOT a pedophile. It was the Dad pushing the issue and he was perfectly fine letting MJ go "free" as long as he got his pay off. As mentioned earlier, if MJ was guilty, this means Dad allowed MJ to harm more kids by not seeing to it he went to jail...pretty sleazy if you ask me.

In the second case, the boy that accused MJ admitted to a school official that nothing actually happened between him and MJ. His brother, who was the only witness in this case, admitted that he lied under oath in a case where his Mother sued JC Penney and won $152,000. His Mother was also found to have committed welfare fraud. If this isn't enough to cast doubt, then answer this: why would she allow her children to stay with MJ after he was already accused once before of child molestation? Does the term "gold digger" come to your mind like it does mine?

Yeah, he was a weird dude. I'm sure you would be too if your childhood was spent working instead of being a child. Or are you super human and have the ability to overcome everything? Him being weird makes you dislike him which then turns into anything negative about him; you want to believe it whether its true or not. That makes you narrow-minded. Your passion for disliking someone gets in the way of reality. Michael Motley just proved this with his comment regarding the number of times MJ was accused. He wants so bad for MJ to be a bad person that he is willing to make up his own set of facts to prove his point.

I hate real sexual molesters as much as the next guy. I think anyone that REALLY commits this crime should be tortured until they decide to commit suicide (and I mean REAL torture...not this pansy-ass waterboarding crap).

But I also despise people that commit fraud against rich people just to get that payoff.

Which facts...the ones you make up?

The first case (the one he did pay for...he did NOT pay any money to the second accuser...you got to stop that merry-go-round sometime) was in 1993...that's 16 years ago, not just before he died. 16 years ago he was still very wealthy.

He died over $100 million in debt...so, at the time of his death, he was beyond the "brink of broke."

As I mentioned earlier, you continue to make up the facts to fit your story.

And speaking of facts, what about the facts of the accusers? You just refuse to address those don't you? I think narrow-minded was the term I used earlier.

You mean the facts that you obviously don't know?

In an interview, MJ was asked what he was worth and replied he didn't know. The interviewer said a billion and said probably more. The interviewer later said it was far less.

MJ had no concept of money.

And if I was accused of something, I'd pay it off too. (With a few exceptions.) The longer it goes on and as it gets more and more attention - it hurts your life and career more than fighting it and being found "not guilty" because in the publics eye you are just another rich man who got off. Look at this thread for proof of that. People condemed him based on the freaky crap he does and not on all the facts.
