Rode down to Woodstock, NY today to check out Levon Helm Boulevard and visit Rick Danko and Levon's final resting place.
Last year we met Barbra O'Brian who was Levon's manager and still runs the shows at Levon's Barn Levon Helm Studios Home
This year we met one of her relatives who does the mowing at the cemetery and who knew Levon well.

We did Sal. It was a beautiful day for a ride and we met some interesting people (as always).
Another cool thing that happened was we went into this tiny music store by the cemetery just to browse. Setting there was an old bass drum from the early 60's with original heads. The color looked familiar so as I investigated closer it turns out it was a Kent. The first drum kit I ever owned was a red sparkle Kent, that I got somewhere around 1966. If you scroll down this page you will see 1960's Red Sparkle 22,13,16 w/matching Snare and Kent cymbal. That is the same as the kit I had.

It was cool Josh. I rode down with a friend who happens to be a fantastic bass player, so it has special meaning to us both as he has studied Rick Dankos style and I have studied Levon Helms style.
