I just watched an old Married with Children episode - and Sam Kinison was in it. It was a parody of It's a Wonderful Life and Kinison is Al's guardian angel. Holy crap - was it funny. If you don't remember this one and liked Kinison and Married with Children - you'll have fun with it. (23 minutes)

I love Al Bundy but he is not Archie Bunker. You are off by about 30 years.

Yep. Married With Children, not All In The Family.

      Nevertheless, it's still funny as.

I haven't seen Married with Children for years, I used to love that. That's my lunch break all planned out now.

Yeah, on the surface they seem the same. Their homes were about as large, and they had the same number of kids(apparently), Archie REALLY only had one daughter, but once a relative abandoned HIS daughter, and archie took her in. ALSO, archies daughter befriended a guy he had to take in. Archie was generally in a union, and al wanted to be. BOTH weren't paid much. BOTH were always complaining. BOTH were not very bright.

But HEY! At least archie's family loved him when the rubber hit the road, and at least he loved them. He appreciated his daughter even if he DID hate her boyfriend. And archie's family generally got fed.

BTW I generally did like Sam Kinison. A LOT of his humor was taking things that archie, I, or even AL might want to yell about and YELL about them. I wasn't too crazy about the yelling, but he used it for effect.

Kinison was about my favorite comedian. I loved him. Wish he were still around. Never saw him on MWC, but saw a lot of his skits.

Here's one of my favs ... Sam Kinison on World Hunger

Sam Kinison is also my all time favorite comedian. I'm well familiar with his world hunger spot. It's one of my favs from my fav. He was intense and he was hilarious. I miss him. I've listened to all his stuff to the point I know it too well to watch/listen to it again. I was looking for spots I haven't seen before like maybe talk shows etc and ran across this. Had to share it because I knew other people who are Kinison fans might not have seen it.

Steve - I used to watch both. Not sure why I confused the name, but I'm pretty well familiar with both. Just a brain glitch.

I'm still a huge Kinison fan. I loved his stand up.

This was one of the most memorable movie scenes of my childhood (probably explains a few things...):

I Loved that movie! It WAS a good example of how school was/is. Textbooks tell one thing, teachers may disregard them, sometimes because they are just WRONG, and a person may get in trouble for knowing the REAL truth, the teacher doesn't like you, etc..... ALSO, money and publicity can change things. Of course, the whole thing was presented as a ridiculous comedy.

And this might be some of their best work, sam kinison and Rodney dangerfield. Rodney is one of the main characters in this film.

It's a solid flick if you can get yourself in an 80's frame of mind.

As I recall, rodney plays an entreprenuer with a son. His son goes to school, and his father decides to go back to school and ends up paying people to connect the dorms, and help his son. He goes into the classes and one is business, for example, and the teacher leaves out enough stuff that dangerfield's character talks about all the problems that can pop up, talks about bribes, etc... Anyway, he ends up getting a bad reputation, etc... They have plenty of comedy in it. I think it is kind of timeless. A lot of comedy IS.

I don't know about THAT. Pentacostals are probably more use to such things. I was in a vinyard church once that went a bit MORE pentacostal, and they got kicked out of the vinyard!!!!! As pentacostal goes, vinyard might be one of the most normal(like NON pentacostal) ones.

Yeah, the "dark path" of a much beloved, highly popular comedian who made people laugh until tears came out of their eyes ... and who still talk about and miss him to this day.

Maybe 3 times in my life, I've laughed so hard that I peed myself. The first time I saw Kinison do his "starving people in the desert" act was one of them. That whole hour had me laughing uncontrollably.

Mitch Hedberg was like that too. Some people can take stand up to a higher level.

I get why someone wouldn't find them funny. But I sure did.
But the 3 Stooges? As a kid? Hilarious. As an adult? I just didn't see it. Weird.

The best comedian, based on their material? Maybe Steven Wright, George Carlin, or Alonzo Bodden. Bodden could make anyone sound funny. Incredible material.

Kinison could always make me laugh. Richard Pryor was another one. George Carlin got too political and he stopped making me laugh. Steven Wright ... hilarious. Stooges .... never liked them.

Yeah, the "dark path" of a grossly obese, cocaine snorting, alcohol guzzling, stripper loving wild man who slept with so many hookers he lost count

His own brother and manager said that Kinison was virtually high or drunk every single day for a whole decade.

Honestly ... you go on being judgmental like you do in most threads. Not my style. I did in fact use drugs and alcohol in large amounts until I quit over 20 years ago. Kinison also quit drugs and alcohol before he died ... and I could care less how much he weighed or who he slept with. Must be nice to have lived such a perfect life that you feel right and good about condemning others the way you do.

Whose being judgmental ? Judgmental over some random video here or there that Ive pointed out ? Oh me Im such a bad person LOL

This is more about you being angry that I would disagree with your views on someone that you Love and admire

Consuming alcohol and Cocaine over a decade is just plain going down a dark path. That is just fact ..... nothing judgmental about that.

Did I say he was a bad human being ? NO. So how is that judging someone ? Please enlightened me!

As far as I can see he seemed like a fun loving guy who had a big heart

You are kind of being presumptuous aren't you ?

I didnt do drugs much myself but I consumed large amounts of alcohol for well over 20 years.

I am the guy at Silverados in Nashville who would come in penny beer night 7-10pm every friday, Saturday, and Sunday with his buddies and put down 15-17 ice houses without blinking. Did it for longer than a decade
And God knows I had my share of debauchery in those drunken stupors

Worst all I then proceed to try to drive home sometimes like a idiot !!.

Was that a dark path I chose and went down , Hell to the YES it was !

So you say Iam Judgmental and I have " Lived a perfect Life" ??

It is sad when some people in here try to glean what someone is all about based on some Posts in a silly message board.

Wow, if that is not being judgmental and hasty , I do not now what is

                  Okay, okay. I see.

Sorry myself too. I get hasty in my replies. And can get long winded too

But he reminded me of Chris Farley. Both of them were really funny comedians but just reckless lives.

I can honestly say that if I was in that situation of both these guys and had that fame and money when I was in my Twenties and early thirties there is a good chance that I would have done a lot of that crazy stuff too.

Actually, I know I would have. Maybe I would like to believe I would have kept it in check but who knows. I can see where it can get out of control.

I'm also a big Kinison fan and have a couple of his albums. Much of his comedy was him experimenting with human nature. He'd try to see how extreme he could be and still get people to laugh. This was the motivation for his necrophiliac joke, would people laugh at what he considered the worst possible thing?

In a way his death reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughn's. They both struggled with drugs and alcohol. Got sober, then were killed in accidents.

For those that know the area, he was killed on the highway between Las Vegas and Laughlin, which is a really deadly road.

The earliest thing I can remember him being in was the film verson of The Harrad Experiment. He had a very small role. Don Johnson was also in the movie.

He was also a decent guitar player. Here he is with Jessica Hahn (from the Jim Bakker scandal):
