If he did this at my Wedding I would fire his butt on the spot.

And my wife would have taken a Bible and tossed it at his head !

Well, the photographer should be DISCRETE! But I would be thinking about not paying the "priest". He had NO right to stop or chastise. Ironically, the ONLY time he should stop is if some immorality or objection is raised, but there are times for that.

      Its ironic actually !
What he meant to say is , " this is not about the Photography this about Me. "

I have seen this happen several times in other wedding videos. In-fact at many weddings an off-limits area is defined and photogs are not allowed in that area. In this case it appears as if the photogs shutter was quite loud which can be very distracting and will get you tossed out of events. Usually not weddings though since the bride (and possibly the groom and/or families) pay for the photographer(s).

Seasoned has it right, the photogs need to be somewhat discreet in this setting, but this guy could have handled the situation with a bit more tact.

That said, most/many professional photographers will try to use cameras with quiet shutters in places where they know noisy shutters may be distracting. (weddings, plays etc.).

    Cheers

Fair enough about the loudness of the shutters.

But I think the Priest and his handling of the situation left probably quite an indelible memory permanently imprinted on the married couple's Minds and their Special day.

Maybe not ruined but I bet ( particularly the Bride) they will remember it for a very long time as not a very fond incident.

And adding fuel to the fire, potentially missed videos that could have been very special

If only something else happened on that day, that could take their minds off the priest's bad behavior.

        But what?.......what?

If the priest could turn around and stare in the lens of a video camera and look at another photog, that means there were AT LEAST two people in the background that shouldn't have been there.

This little vid has been discussed on a number of pro photography sites and invariably comes down to the difference between a pro wedding photographer and amateurs. A pro would never be where these guys were, unless it was pre-arranged. It's just not something you do.

The priest was right to call them on it, and I'd bet the b/g were happy about it, not pissed as everyone seems to think. I wouldn't want the spectators at my wedding to be looking at me, my bride, the official, and the damned video/camera people. More than three is a crowd.

As I said.... "Well, the photographer should be DISCRETE! " The PHOTOGRAPHER Put everything into a NO WIN scenario. The priest merely joined in to exacerbate the problem.

I didn't think what he did/said was so bad. He was stern, but polite. It took less then 40 seconds to restore the situation to what it should be. He effectively put an end to the ongoing distraction the photographer and videographer was causing.
