On the main forum page under "Off Topic Forum" it says "anything goes". I also noticed the sticky forbidding politics and religion is gone.

I think it said "anything goes" since back when Allen owned the forum. I didn't notice the sticky was gone though. If those topics are going to be allowed, unless people show more restraint than they have in the past, the threads will still get shut down for the animosity they breed.

    I hadn't noticed that.

I'd noticed that there seemed to be more leeway given, though.

I suppose the idea is to keep an eye on "such threads" and close them if they become unpleasant/hostile/trollish, rather than to disallow it all as a matter of policy?

Actually when it comes to religion and politics even that statement isn't safe.(I know it was a joke)

Eg. He is already the King Of Kings, of the entire universe. So that could be seen as an insulting downgrade to suggest the could merely become a President.(just like Obama)

Then there is that whole separation of church and state thing. Look no further than ISIS or the Dark Ages to see what happens. What a can of worms that could be opened there.

It wasn't a joke. But you are right, He is Everything -- however certainly the office of President is no less beneath Him than being a carpenter.

His plan for humanity wasn't to come here to establish an earthly kingdom. His throne is in Heaven.

Part of being a carpenter was to remove himself as far as he could from the status of an earthly ruler.

The Jews were expecting the messiah to come and establish an earthly kingdom. Even his disciples misunderstood the plan of salvation at first and thought he would become a ruler on earth.

He could have been a ruler, not beneath him to be one, but that was not God's will or plan for his time here.

The plan for salvation and demonstrating God's character were fulfilled in God's wisdom through the occupation of carpenter rather than as a earthly ruler.

            Hallelujah!

            On the subject of . . .

The two thousand member Baptist church was filled to overflowing capacity one Sunday morning. The preacher was ready to start the sermon when two men, dressed in long black coats and black hats entered through the rear of the church. One of the two men walked to the middle of the church while the other stayed at the back of the church. They both then reached under their coats and withdrew automatic weapons.

The one in the middle announced, "Everyone willing to take a bullet for Jesus stay in your seats!"

Naturally, the pews emptied, followed by the choir. The deacons ran out the door, followed by the choir director and the assistant pastor.

After a few moments, there were about twenty people left sitting in the church. The preacher was holding steady in the pulpit.

The men put their weapons away and said, gently, to the preacher, "All right, pastor, the hypocrites are gone now. You may begin the service."

And you all think that we are way too bi-partisan now? Ha!

That bi-partisan couldn't hold a candle to the bi-partisanism we'd see if Jesus was president, lol!

That would hold true for what He said though. " Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."

So as you can see, there is nothing new under the sun...

Yep, look how much bi-partisanship Catholics and Protestants have shown through the ages.

And let's not forget that the fellow you're referring to is actually Jewish.

Imagine how much partisanship that's going to generate.

Ah well - most of us have known each other so long now that it's easier to be civil most of the time. Either that or we know each other well enough that we're not completely distorted for life when we call each other idiots?
