Post count keeps dropping?

I am wondering why my post count drops. THe threads I posted in were not deleted. Were my posts deleted individually?

It would be nice if there was an area of this site that had posting rules. I have no idea if I have violated some rules.

Dunno about post count dropping but, if you're posting here (in the Off-Topic Forum), your post count won't increase.

There are rules. You'll find them in a sticky thread at the top of the Main Forum. Or just take this shortcut:

hmmm, I read those rules when I signed up a couple of weeks ago.

As for post count, yesturday I had 16, then it dropped to 9. I could not post links anymore when my post count went under 15. I posted some more last night to get my count up to 17 (as of this post). Yes, I saw that posts in the "off topic" area don't get counted.

THey have some really funny policies on this forum. None of my posts were spam or promoted anything (I don't have anything to promote right now).

Hard to say -- that thread about the one guy's coaching was deleted, so whatever posts you had in that are gone, and your numbers would go done accordingly.

Don't sweat it, sometimes posts by newcomers are scrutinized more closely because a lot of them post useless one-liners to get their post count up as quickly as possible. It doesn't look like you're doing that, but maybe a few of your posts got deleted for some reason.

I assume you're here for the long haul, so waiting two or three extra days before you can post links or whatever shouldn't be that big a deal. It takes a while to get the feel of a new place that has its own rules and customs.

I peeked at some of your other posts and noticed that they are dangerously close to being "one-liners" (things like, "thanks, great info" "I'll have to try that" or just a quick few word question).

A lot of people get it into their heads that they can join the forum, post 30 nonsense one-line posts and then pay for a WSO to sell something there.

I'm not saying you are doing that, but many of us will report one-liners that appear to be for that purpose and if enough people report them they will be deleted.

That's not to say you have to write a novel in every post either. Just be careful that your posts don't resemble those serial one-liners; expand on your thoughts and questions a bit until people around here get to know you better.

        Hope that helps!

          Here's a thought for you.
Whenever I see one of these posts (and there are many) where someone is whining about their post count and not being able to post links, it sets off a red flag to me.
          How about this.
Contribute where you can, don't where you can't.
The world isn't going to end if you can't post a link yet.
The forum has survived without you for years and you have survived without the forum for years.
It's not the end of the world if you can't post a link yet.

Thank you, that is very constructive advice!

It appears my one-liners were deleted.

In my case, the other problem I was having was that I needed to communicate via PM to my coach and I needed to join his social group, but could not do either when my post count suddenly dropped. Since then, I was able to get ahold of him, and how I have his other contact info so I won't be shut out again.

Thanks everyone, that explains it. I think, however, that the forum owners should post all of these rules in the thread cited above by Thomas. THat's just IMHO

True, that would definitely help new members, but the problem is that people devise new ways to take advantage of this forum every single day. LOL It would be time consuming to keep adding all these little add-ons, don't do this, don't do this, etc.

The people who want to make a genuine contribution here (like you seem to) will get the hang of what's acceptable behavior and what's not - even if they stumble a bit at first.
