The $89 hoodie you have get on a 4-month waiting list to buy

The might be an "advertorial" by BI, but it's an interesting story. American Giant made a hoodie that is so good people will wait 4 months to buy it (or at least, that was the wait back in Dec of last year when the story was written.)

“One of the great unspoken, dirty secrets about the apparel industry is that brands for the last 40 years have been investing a tiny amount in the product to sustain huge marketing and huge distribution costs,” Winthrop said. “In American Giant’s case, we do almost the exact opposite of that.”

To me, it's too heavy as a hoodie. I like hoodies that are thinner and easy to layer. I would use this like a jacket.

I have seen that ad for a while and wondered what the story was...

    OK: Get one.

I'm old enough to remember incredibly better made by Americans clothing--as well as appliances, etc. Our country really needs to get back to manufacturing most everything here and stop relying on nothing but imports.

Machinery and equipment have developed to the point where there really is no excuse to not do it here. It's not like every off-shore worker would lose their jobs. There are plenty of people in their own countries needing goods and they have already learned how to do it.

Perhaps the business/factory owners would need to pay their own workers more to help stimulate their own economies so they can stay in business?

Sorry for the over-simplification, but I honestly just hate stuff that doesn't last worth a darn and never fails to be far too expensive for what you get.

    The scarcity tactic is funny.

Reminds me of the late night infomercials with the timer at the bottom of the TV screen, like they'll stop selling after the timer runs out, lol.

Think I would rather have a Hollister sweatshirt.

I'd be embarrassed to be caught wearing a hoodie. Why are they the fashion choice of wannabe tough guys anyway? They block vision to the extent that it would compromise a person's ability to defend oneself.

I think more normal people like hoodies as well as the wannabee tough guys. It would seem to me that perhaps the hood part pattern needs adjusted or to be adjustable? I have the same problem with hoods on my winter coats. They are usually far too spacious for me and no draw strings. But, when it's winter and miserable out, one uses every advantage you have to protect against the cold.

Another thought is perhaps the manufacturer is making allowance for the baseball caps that have always seemed to be part of every younger guy's outfit? Wouldn't the brim of the cap hold it up in the front?

Only teenage thug wannabes wear the hood up. And people who want to hide their hair - (bad hair day) -- maybe some of the same group.

It is hard to find a decent sweatshirt/cardigan that doesn't have a hood. It is completely useless to me and interferes with my hair (do).

But on this name brand of these hoodies I went to AmericanGiant.com

They have a few different shirts - all a bit pricey IMHO (I'll wait til they get to Ross Dress 4 Less and get them @ 1/2 to 3/4 off). Pretty nice looking though and obvious quality.
