Is this ever going to end?
I didn't know he was still alive either Mike and yes I remember him.
At least he had a long life.
This is totally unrelated, but I just found out this morning that a person I have called my friend for the last 40 years died last Thursday, Ride in Peace Nick.

      Weird stuff going on MIke.
Nick had health problems for years. His chest was opened up so many times they should of put a zipper in.
I just found out from the owner of the local Harley shop that he died in his sleep during the day.
His wife came home and found him dead.
What bothers me the most is that I just found out and wasn't able to make the funeral. To top it off all the original members of my motorcycle club are in their early 60's except me. Two of the members (the Chaplin and secretary) in Florida aren't doing well and when I visited the V.P. last week he looks like he dropped around 40 pounds and doesn't look healthy at all (I was the best man at his wedding 35 years ago, we are close). I haven't been this upset and emotional since my wife and mother died in 02.
Sorry I hijacked your thread Mike, I just had to get this out of my head for a little.

    RIP Karl Malden.

I have always said stars always go out in clusters and this one is the biggest clusters I have seen if you count minor stars like Billie Mays.

    McMahon
    Fawcett
    Jackson
    Mays
    Malden

    RIP

billie mays is not minor!! he is a man among men, a cleaning god, you can't beat the beard!!

There's Jack Nicholson...then there's Billy Mays. If heaven ever gets dirty, Mays will clean that up in seconds with oxyclean

    My deepest sympathy, Thom.

Celebrate the fact that all his troubles are behind him and you will see him again someday.

This is just a temporary place and we will all need to bust out of here sooner or later.

I don't mean to sound cavalier but I don't know what to say that would cheer you up. I honestly believe that although we miss them, everybody is better off once they transcend this plain.

...besides consciously flying out, second choice is dying in my sleep and it is super-blessed IMHO.

Thank God he didn't linger around and suffer.

He suffered for years Pat, but you are right he is in a better place and not suffering anymore. I'm being selfish really, what has me upset the most is that I didn't get to see him one last time and I missed his funeral and couldn't say goodbye.

I know, Thom. Ask God to tell him goodbye for you and that you are sorry. Then forgive yourself.

I do feel the spirits of people I have known who died (and even ones I didn't know) - but then I am part whacked so that is why I say ask God, since you don't want to get off into talking to ghosts...

I had a very dear friend Martin Gorak (MarTune the Magician) and he OD'd and same case, no way to say goodbye.

I am only a little bit less goofy today than I was then, but what I did to get through it was I made him this little box the way the Egyptians used to prepare people for the 'after life' - with little bits of food, a roach, and little things (symbols), etc.

I took the box and went out to Ocean Beach in San Francisco and I buried it, but not too deep so that one day the ocean would carry it out to him.

oh man I am going to cry about Martune 30 years later...

    RIP my brother.

We have a slightly different tradition here Pat.
He was in the Vietnam Vets M.C.
I'll ride to his grave after I give my condolences to his wife and find where he is buried. Then I will pour some beer on his grave, drink the rest in his memory, smoke a joint and leave him the roach.
For now though I will just get his name up on the Grim Reaper Commemorative Crew web page.

      RIP my brother.
Martoon was my brother-a tragic lost.
He was far too young to leave us-
but he lives on in our hearts and his Magic!

I'm so sorry Thom. I guess the famous aren't the only ones of the greats that are being taken out this week. You will see him again on the other side..........but don't be in a hurry about it.

      No worries there Sal.
I still have why to many people to piss off to be thinking about ending this life.
