What ever happened to that? For those who are not familiar with the saying, it is the opening line from the preamble, the Constitution of the United states.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Has that been stripped out of the Constitution of the United States?It seems as though the FDA is at it again, they have gone after Kevin Trudeau, they have tried to derail Dr. Burczynski, they have gone after Producers of pomegranate juice and green tea, among others.

Now the are coming down on Diamond foods for including health benefits on the packaging of walnuts.

This kind of bureaucratic tyranny sends a strong signal to the food industry not to innovate in a way that informs the public about foods that protect against disease. While consumers increasingly reach for healthier dietary choices, the federal government wants to deny food companies the ability to convey findings from scientific studies about their products.

Walnuts aren’t the only food whose health benefits the FDA has tried to suppress. Producers of pomegranate juice and green tea, among others, have felt the bureaucrats’ wrath whenever they have suggested that their products are good for people.


Meanwhile, Faloon points out, foods that have little to no redeeming value are advertised endlessly, often with dubious health claims attached. For example, Frito-Lay is permitted to make all kinds of claims about its fat-laden, fried products, including that Lay’s potato chips are “heart healthy.” Faloon concludes that “the FDA obviously does not want the public to discover that they can reduce their risk of age-related disease by consuming healthy foods. They prefer consumers only learn about mass-marketed garbage foods that shorten life span by increasing degenerative disease risk.”



Faloon thinks he knows why this is the case. First, by stifling competition from makers of more healthful alternatives, junk food manufacturers, who he says “heavily lobb[y]” the federal government for favorable treatment, will rake in ever greater profits. Second, by making it less likely that Americans will consume healthful foods, big pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers stand to gain by selling more “expensive cardiac drugs, stents, and coronary bypass procedures” to those made ill by their diets.

Something I read was really laughable! The FDA claims that since Diamond foods labeled some health benefits on the packaging of walnuts, they are considering it a drug and because there is no direction for use on the label, it is therefore illegal to sell them.

Wow! since when do we need directions on how to eat a walnut.

I have just renamed the FDA from Food and Drug Administration to
"Freaking dumb asses"

    I've always had a low opinion of the FDA and their often incomprehensible antics. Now I know why - clearly they are run by a load of imbeciles.

      I think the "letter agencies" (FDA, EPA, etc) are all out to keep themselves viable by making waves, making headlines and exerting power.

    Well, Kevin Trudeau is the kind of person the FDA and FTC SHOULD go after. I don't know enough about that doctor to say.

    I am unsure what claims you speak of, but there is a TON of stuff that many of diamonds products are PROVEN to help! WALNUTS are OFTEN recommended for things due to scientific studies. But HEY, it is AGAINST THE LAW TO SAY......

    1. Vitamin C prevents/cures scurvy! There is only one known CURE! What is it? VITAMIN C!
    2. Vitamin B1 prevents/cures Beri Beri! There is only one known CURE! What is it? VITAMIN B1!
    3. Vitamin B3 prevents/cures Pelegra! There is only one known CURE! What is it? VITAMIN B3!

    HECK, the law is such that it is ILLEGAL to say that Vitamin K at least has a hand in preventing/curing most bleeding disorders! What is the way to ENSURE that you have a bleeding disorder? Be deficient in Vitamin K!

    Perhaps EVERY vitamin was found because they found that a given disease was created by a deficiency in some molecule that was then considered a micro nutrient, and then called a VITAMIN.

    I wrote that as I did because certain nutrients had to exist in HUGE amounts, and are considered macronutrients. They are proteins, fats, carbs, amino acids. And some areatomic, like the various minerals.

    The FDAs ********PRIMARY********* duty is to make sure that people remain safe, and are not cheated, through food and drugs. Trying to prevent the QUINTILLIONS of attempts to solve a problem could take forever, and cost TRILLIONS of dollars! It is RIDICULOUS! It is like a ship searching for a wreck, and people all over the world are claiming to sell information on where to find it! QUICK! QUICK! QUICK!
    WHAT do you think is easier/safer/cheaper?

    1. Following the ship all around the planet and shutting down all the scam artists, and the ship may get sunk far off having NEVER found the wreck?
    2. YOU know the wreck is 1 mile to the port side of the ship, and you simply tell them, and all is fine?

    The SECOND one is simpler, RIGHT? So WHY does the FDA pick option #1, and close down all these places offering a cure to say scurvy, or even approve dangerous drugs instead? NOPE! They OUTLAW #2 saying that it is legal to sell as long as you don't say specifically WHY!!!!!!

    Yeah, INCREDIBLE! Most micronutrients can be taken to extremes with few real problems. Of course, the problems are exacerbated because you can't even allude to them. And MACRO nutrients? Well, most are mostly converted to fat. Proteins also create excess urine.

    It is unlikely you will eat too many walnuts, and unlikely the problems would be bad.

      But I do have to say that if there are really people dumb enough to believe that Frito Lay fat laden chips are heart healthy, then we have another huge problem.

      A horrible thought just occurred to me!

      I call caffeine my happy drug, what if they target that next?

      They can't do that with my coffee! If they do, I think we the people will have to overthrow the government, LOL!

      Walnuts a drug? Yep, I've truly heard it all!

      Didn't Cheerios used to have commercials a few years ago about being "heart healthy" because the fiber or something in them allegedly helped lower cholesterol? Talk about nonsense! I don't recall the FDA going after them for that claim...

      And Lay's potato chips being heart healthy??!!! I guess telling people what they want to hear is the backbone of successful marketing. The idiocy in some of this (and the people who fall for it) is truly frightening...

      The FDA's real interests have nothing to do with protecting the consumer, unfortunately.

        Ah but the long arm of the FDA reaches quite far!

        After you posting about Cheerios, I did a quick search and lo and behold........

        All Cheerios shipped to the eastern coast of the United States and eastern Canada are manufactured at the General Mills plant in Buffalo, New York.[3] In 2009, a dispute developed, regarding the FDA considering Cheerios an "unapproved new drug" because of its marketing and health claims.

      Caffiene is only bad for you in large doses or if something is already wrong with you. Coffee has a lot pytonutrients that are actually good for you. They spray the hell out of coffee with some pretty nasty pesticides, though - so if you are drinking organic coffee and not in amounts that your system reacts negatively to - you're actually not hurting yourself a damned bit. I have negative blood and can take more acidity in what I ingest than a positive blooded person can. 3 cups a day doesn't even phase me and I get all those pytonutrients. It's the AMA that wants me to believe it is not good for me. Caffeine is actually helpful in controlling asthma/allergies.

      Actually, that is a good point! Coffee breaks this law LEFT AND RIGHT! They say it is a stimulant, will keep you awake, etc.... That is ILLEGAL! It is expressing that something will affect the body or cure/diagnose/prevent a disease WITHOUT the FDA approving such claims!

      REMEMBER! They do NOT CARE if everyone knows it or it is established FACT!

      If ****THEY**** do not officially acknowledge it, they consider it ILLEGAL to claim so!

    This one is an example of when behavioral economics and game theory collide with the interests of the population and the free market.

    In this case, the FDA can enact "rules" with the promise of a strong threat. Fighting the rules would be expensive, so the FDA and their contributors win.

    Everyone has heard the twist on the famous golden rule, "he who has the gold makes the rules". But I have found that the inverse is also true, "he who makes the rules gets the gold".

    As for the word 'we' as it used to exist in our representative government, it no longer exists. The people have been convinced they really are the center of the universe. The word 'I' has found it's way into products, such as the iPhone and iPad

    That reminds me. Two years ago the FDA banned primatine mist - an over-the-counter med for asthma that 40 million asthmatics depended on to control their asthma. It was harmless and really worked well. They banned it because it had "aerosol" -but was directly inhaled so that did not go into the atmosphere like some spray products that are still on the market.

    All those 10s of millions of people were forced into medical care which gives only addictive drugs that really don't do much. Abuterin (sp?) is nearly ineffectual and highly addictive. Anyway - primatine came up with a different pump that doesn't use aerosol and put it in for approval. It's been ignored now for 2 years. They just refuse to get around to approving it.

    Thanks FDA. I haven't had to go to a doctor for my asthma since Primatine came out. I feel fortunate that I have been able to control my asthma using natural stuff. Their f***ing ruling has risked the lives of millions on this one - and they don't care a whit because they are funded by the same sources they are supposed to be protecting us from. I'm so pissed off that if I had the means, I'd move to a different country. This is some very sick and twisted shyte they're pulling on people.
