Copyright lawyer?

I need some suggestions for a good copyright lawyer. I'm unsure whether or not this is the best place to ask, but I need a reference and I'm sure there must be a few members here with a lawyer or even experience with copyright lawyers.

I have a book that someone has taken and started selling as their own. They even copied my website exactly.

I tried communicating with this person directly, asking them very nicely to stop, but they pretty much just replied with a "No" and "Sue me".

I've tried sending a DMCA to this person's website host, but they actually filed a counter-DMCA so the webhost is not going to take down this person's website permanently. Even PayPal has not complied after freezing this person's account since they also counter-claimed that.

I wanted to take legal action against this person, possibly even the webhost, however the person doing this is located in France as far as I can see.

Can anyone recommend a good copyright lawyer who could at least give me some free legal advice? I definitely have a case and a lot of evidence and would really like to pursue legal action.

    Not sure if our WF lawyer is still around since the buy out. You might try posting this in the main forum. If he's still here he might see it. I can't remember how to spell his username - Kidnesvar or something. His name is Brian.

    Also - I don't know what the legal structure in Canada is. Here you can call the local DA's (district attorney) office and ask what to do. Not sure about what's available in Canada - but I'm pretty sure they'd have some form of free legal advice there, too. At least enough to tell you where to start. Of course, there's always the Yellow pages - or whatever your local phone book is. Look for ads for lawyers with "free consultation". Even if they aren't the right ones, they're networked enough to know where to send you.

    Also, check with your local equivalent of what we call the Bar Association.
    And local Law School for some advice from students.

    Being international it will be tough.
